Top CFB DFS Quarterbacks
Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
Kaidon Salter | LIB | JACST | 8600 | 32.13 | 12000 | 31.13 |
On this small slate, Kaidon Salter is the clear top overall QB and will be chalky in cash. The Liberty dual-threat provides a safe DFS floor with his legs with passing upside. Through five games, Salter has 306 rushing yards and 6 rush TDs with a 12:2 TD:INT ratio. He’s the headliner in Liberty’s offense and should come through for cash lineups with 25-30 DK or more. The Jacksonville St defense is solid on paper, but it also hasn’t faced many tough offenses yet.
Ryan Burger | APPST | C-C | 7600 | 5.8 | 5000
After being out since Week 1 with a finger injury, Ryan Burger could return and start for Appalachian State on Tuesday night. It’s definitely a fluid situation and one to monitor ahead of kickoff, though. Burger was back practicing this past week and appeared in a promo tweet from App St’s own account (which is usually a good sign). He was the starter coming into the year but got hurt a few drives into the season opener. Joey Aguilar has filled in nicely (at least from a DFS standpoint) and would be a solid play if Burger ends up sitting. Coastal’s pass defense is average, so the matchup isn’t too tough for either QB. If Burger does start, he's a lock on the FD slate with the 5k price tag.
Jack Turner | LT | MTSU | 5900 | 12.51 | 8600 | 15.90 |
Another QB situation to monitor is that of Louisiana Tech. Last week, Hank Bachmeier was available to play but was the backup to Jack Turner. It’s unclear who will start this week. Bachmeier is apparently healthy to play following an early-season shoulder injury, but Turner still started and played the whole game in a close loss to WKU in Week 6. We’ll see who starts, but whoever it is has a good matchup. Middle Tennessee’s pass defense ranks 102nd in the country and has allowed a 13:3 TD:INT ratio through six games. Turner has 16+ DK in three of his four games filling in for Bachmeier, so he's a decent option. Rostering LaTech's starting QB is risky, though, because either could be pulled for the other.
Zion Webb | JACST | LIB | 5600 | 10.14 | 9000 | 11.93 |
Last week, Zion Webb replaced Logan Smothers and anchored a double-digit win over Middle Tennessee. As of this writing, there isn’t any official word on who will start at QB for Jacksonville State but Webb looks like the likely favorite after that last game. Webb began the year as the starter but was replaced by Smothers. In relief last week, Webb threw for two scores and added in 101 rushing yards with a rush TD for a massive 34 DK performance. His running ability gives him plenty of upside on this slate and could be a popular Super-Flex if we know he’s the starter over Smothers. Overall, it is a risky play because there could be a mid-game QB change again if Webb starts but struggles. |
Top CFB DFS Running Backs
Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
Tyre Shelton | LT | MTSU | 6900 | 21.48 | 10500 | 21.07 |
The Louisiana Tech backfield has been a fluid situation this season, but Tyre Shelton has been a stud when healthy. He just ran for 118 yards and 2 TDs on 21 carries last week as the clear lead back despite Charvis Thornton and Marquis Crosby both back healthy. Shelton now has 100+ yards, a TD, 16+ touches, and 19+ DK in three straight games played. The MTSU rush defense is about average and shouldn’t shut down the LaTech running game. So Shelton is a top RB play on the slate based on his current form.
Quinton Cooley | LIB | JACST | 6800 | 12.08 | 8200 | 9.88 |
Quinton Cooley has run for 100+ yards in three of the last four games. Last week with Billy Lucas out, Cooley saw 17 carries and scored a TD for a season-best 19.6 DK points. Lucas reportedly could play tonight after sitting out (but dressing) last week with an undisclosed injury. The situation is a bit murky to fully trust Cooley if Lucas plays. Still, Cooley should get the most touches in the Liberty backfield with how well he’s run lately. Put him in GPP territory on this slate, though, with some better per-dollar plays in the RB pool.
Nate Noel | APPST | C-C | 6500 | 23.64 | 9800 | 19.83 |
In terms of consistent volume and production, Nate Noel is the top RB on the slate. He has 100+ rushing yards in all five games so far while averaging nearly 25 carries per game. Noel is a true workhorse back and his DFS cash floor will be there. This is a favorable matchup too as Coastal Carolina is allowing 164 rushing yards per game (99th in FBS) and 4.58 ypc (104th). If Noel gets the volume (which he will), then another 100+ yards and 20 DK or more will anchor cash lineups.
Frank Peasant | MTSU | LT | 5800 | 8.46 | 6700 | 7.76 |
UPDATE: Peasant is reportedly out tonight. So Jaiden Credle is now a top value RB in cash with this favorable matchup. When Peasant was out in Week 3, Credle ran for 132 yards with 30 DK. Louisiana Tech has one of the worst rush defenses in the country, allowing 212.3 rushing yards per game (129th in FBS) and 5.11 ypc (118th). Conversely, LaTech has a strong pass defense. So, the Middle Tennesee running game is a clear target in this matchup. Frank Peasant has underwhelmed as the lead back but he’s cheap enough to consider as an RB value on this small slate – if not for the very favorable matchup alone. Against another poor rush defense two games ago (vs WKU), Peasant ran for 76 yards and a TD. The MTSU offense is pass-heavy, but Peasant can come through in this spot. His backup Jaiden Credle is also in play for GPPs.
Braydon Bennett | C-C | APPST | 5500 | 12.54 | 7400 | 11.04 |
The App St rush defense is one of the worst in the country, allowing 187.4 yards per game (117th) and 5.54 ypc (129th). The defense has also given up 13 rush TDs over five games. It sets up well for Braydon Bennett to come through after he just ran for 114 yards and a TD last game. The only problem is that the Coastal backfield could be split with both Reese White and CJ Beasley returning from injury and game-time decisions for Tuesday night. If all three play, put Bennett in GPP territory. If the other two sit, then Bennett could vault into a top RB play with the backfield almost to himself in a very favorable matchup. |
Top CFB DFS Wide Receivers
Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
Smoke Harris | LT | MTSU | 7100 | 17.93 | 9000 | 15.32 |
Smoke Harris’ DFS performances have been up and down this season, but he still has the best floor/ceiling combo on this small slate. Harris is the clear top pass-catcher in Louisiana Tech’s offense and he has three double-digit reception games already. Last week’s stat line of 11 catches for 117 yards and 25 DK points is a good indicator of what his weekly production can look like. MTSU has a below-average pass defense (102nd in FBS) and Harris will see the lion’s share of targets in the LaTech passing game. He's the top cash WR on the slate.
Christan Horn | APPST | C-C | 5900 | 11.56 | 7400 | 8.57 |
If Ryan Burger is back, then the App St passing attack should be a bit better too. Christian Horn is one of the top Mountaineers receivers to target on this slate. He went off for 124 yards, 2 TDs, and 33 DK last game after being pretty quiet in the weeks before. Last year, Horn led the team in receiving yards with 600 and could be more consistent moving forward with Burger back under center. His FD price is especially cheap and makes him a top GPP value wideout on the slate.
CJ Daniels | LIB | JACST | 5600 | 17 | 8400 | 13.60 |
Liberty doesn’t pass it much, but CJ Daniels is the top target when it does. His 16 receptions and 420 receiving yards lead the team so far. In three of the past four games, Daniels has 100+ yards, a TD, and 23+ DK points. There are also some duds mixed in, though, so be wary that it could be boom or bust. The ceiling would easily exceed value if he and Salter connect on a long ball or two. Treon Sibley is also a GPP target from Liberty’s WR corps, but it's hard to roster anyone else besides those two.
Sam Pinckney | C-C | APPST | 5500 | 19.4 | 8800 | 15.40 |
The Coastal Carolina passing game basically revolves around two guys. Jared Brown has 28 catches for 314 yards while Sam Pinckney has 28 catches for 443 yards. Both are options on this small slate and they're both affordable enough to roster. Pinckney has a slightly higher upside and it’s worth mentioning that it was him who led Coastal in receptions and yards last season.
Justin Olson | MTSU | LT | 5400 | 11.22 | 7300 | 8.55 |
The Louisiana Tech pass defense ranks 16th nationally in terms of yards allowed through the air this season. It’s not an ideal matchup, but at least the Middle Tennessee offense throws it a ton. So, the target volume can be there for some of these MTSU receivers to return value. Elijah Metcalf and Holden Willis are the top options, but Justin Olson is cheaper for possibly similar DFS production. Olson just had nine catches for 124 yards last week. His 26 receptions and 323 yards barely trail Metcalf’s 31 catches for 350 yards for the team lead.
Kaedin Robinson | APPST | C-C | 4700 | 14.94 | 7800 | 11.20 |
Kaedin Robinson is coming off a monster performance of 10 catches, 112 yards, a TD, and 29 DK last game. Before the outburst, Robinson was usually good for 3-4 catches, 50-60 yards, and the upside to catch a TD or post 15 DK or so. Game log watchers could boost Robinson’s ownership on this small slate, but he is cheap enough to consider in cash or GPP. He now leads App St in receptions and yards after last week’s big stat line.
Sean Brown | JACST | LIB | 4500 | 9.95 | 5800 | 7.57 |
The Jacksonville State passing game leaves a lot to be desired with both Logan Smothers and Zion Webb struggling to throw it well game-to-game. Still, there are some value WRs to look at, especially if the offense is throwing more while playing catch-up to Liberty. Perry Carter is an option, but Sean Brown is cheaper for likely similar DFS production. The tight end had five catches for 103 yards and a TD last week. He’s now caught TDs in back-to-back games. There aren’t many cheap receivers worth rostering on this slate, but Brown is a decent play. |
