CFB DFS Picks, Daily Fantasy Playbook & Schedule: September 28th
This week’s CFB DFS picks highlight the exhilarating matchups set for September 28th. It’s a thrilling schedule, and I’m eager to witness the action unfold.
Now, let’s explore the latest CFB DFS projections. We’ve had some solid performances so far – let’s keep the momentum going with these Week 5 CFB DFS picks!
CFB DFS Lineups: Quarterbacks
Shedeur Sanders, Colorado Buffaloes
Where shall we start with Sanders? With exception to the Nebraska game, he’s put up monster numbers week in and week out. This UCF defense is nothing like the Cornhuskers either and this game could very well be a shootout. It’s this simple: when Sanders isn’t playing a good defense, you should feel extremely confident rolling with him in your lineups.
Josh Hoover, TCU Horned Frogs
Hoover has been an underrated player all season long and I like him to die up this Kansas defense. He’s thrown 11 touchdowns to just 2 picks on the season and has amassed 350+ passing yards in all but one game, and he still had 267 in that one. This offense just put up 42 last week, but their defense gave up 66, meaning Hoover should have plenty of opportunities.
Tyler Shough, Louisville Cardinals
Just looking for value here as I wasn’t particularly keen on many low-priced CFB DFS projections for this slate. Shough is one of them though. He’s probably not going to be the difference maker in a lineup, but he also won’t lose the week for you either. He’s just rock-solid both for fantasy purposes and real life (has yet to throw an interception in 2024).
CFB DFS Lineups: Running Backs
RJ Harvey, UCF Knights
An absolute smash spot for Harvey and Week 5 CFB DFS picks here in a game we already targeted above. This kid has been something special to start 2024, averaging 149.3 rushing yards per game to go along with 9 total touchdowns. Now facing an awful Colorado defense, Harvey is worth every single penny this week.
Kalel Mullings, Michigan Wolverines
We said it last week, and it looks like the coaches have finally noticed: Mullings is the best running back on the Michigan roster. He now has back-to-back games of 15+ carries, 150+ yards and 2 touchdowns, firmly establishing himself as the lead back. With the way the Wolverines offense looks overall, he should stay plenty busy.
Woody Marks, USC Trojans
Marks has been an extremely dependable back all season long, even last week against a ferocious defensive front of Michigan. He’s a dynamic runner, but his receiving ability is really what sets him apart. USC wants to get rid of the bad taste in their mouth from last week and a subpar Wisconsin team is just what the doctor ordered.
Chaz Mellusi, Wisconsin Badgers
We just mentioned how Wisconsin was below average, but looking at last week’s action, so is the Trojans’ run defense. The Wolverines ran all over USC and if Wisconsin plans to win or even stay in this game, they should look to do the same. Mellusi should get the bulk of the carries for the Badgers, and I wouldn't be shocked to see him reach paydirt at some point.
CFB DFS Lineups: Wide Receivers
Travis Hunter, Colorado Buffaloes
Stats, analytics, blah, blah, blah. It’s Travis Hunter, enough said. He’s going to continue to produce at an alarming rate no matter the opponent. How about against an opponent this week in the Black Knights who just let TCU put up 34 points their last time out? I expect Hunter to remain the top-priced receiver all season barring something unfathomable.
Tre Harris, Ole Miss Rebels
Not a great matchup here for Harris, but I’d argue he’s matchup proof at this point. His lowest number of catches in a game this season has been 8, and his lowest number of receiving yards has been 127. He had 11 for 225 in Week 4 to go along with 2 scores. This dude is a freak and should continue to prove why.
Kobe Hudson, UCF Knights
Sorry to touch on this game yet again, but I just have to. I expect a lot of points to be scored and very little defense to be played at UCF on Saturday afternoon. That said, I’ll happily snag a guy whose role has grown each and every week, and he really capitalized on that in Week 3. Look for him to, at the minimum, match his 6-145-2 production from their last game.
Daniel Jackson, Minnesota Golden Gophers
The Golden Gophers aren’t very good, and I foresee the Wolverines winning handedly. If my game script prevails, Minnesota will be needing to throw the ball a ton, which is perfect for their best wide receiver in Jackson. The QB play hurts him, but he’s shown what he can do even with below-average gunslingers, catching 9 balls for 112 yards against Iowa last week.
Eric McAlister, TCU Horned Frogs
I love the value here for a guy that should be heavily involved once more in a game that high scoring should take place. Through the first 4 games, McAlister’s stats have read: 0-0-0, 2-54-0, 4-54-1 and 6-114-1. He’s steadily improved each and every week, and at this price, I certainly think there are far worse CFB DFS picks out there.
