Well, would ya look at that? My Week 5 CFB predictions brought in another 3+ units as we’ve now posted a record of 12-4 over the past 2 weeks!

If you’ve been tailing so far, you’re swimming in the green. And if you haven’t, here’s the best part: it’s still only Week 6! I’ll be here all season long to continue to rake in that cash.

And who knows? Now that we’ve been able to build up that bankroll a bit, we might even start to place some multi-unit wagers. No matter, I’m ready to chase perfection with my CFB best bets for Week 6.

Ole Miss vs. South Carolina Prediction: Saturday, October 5th

It was a rough week 5 against Kentucky for this Rebels team, specifically on the offensive side of the ball. They had entered the game with their season-low point total being 40 and looking like an unstoppable force, but they were only able to muster up 17 points at home against their first SEC opponent.

Now they get another conference foe but have to travel to a hostile South Carolina environment. The Gamecocks already dismantled that same Kentucky team earlier this season and were on the verge of defeating LSU as well. I’m not saying they’ll win this ballgame, but they’re certainly a worthy enough opponent to give Ole Miss all they can handle.

As opposed to the Rebels’ high-octane offense, the Gamecocks do not possess that at all. But they do have one of the better defenses in the conference, and a borderline top-25 unit in the country overall. If they can limit the explosiveness of Jaxon Dart, Tre Harris and the rest of the Ole Miss offense like UK did last week, they’ll be in this thing ‘til the end.

USC failed to cover the spread in Week 1 but since then have done so each and every game. In this one, 9 points just seems like way too much for me, and I love myself a home underdog when making CFB best bets. Put it this way: what did the Rebels do in Week 5 at home that would give you confidence that they can win decisively on the road?

Rutgers vs. Nebraska Prediction: Saturday, October 5th

Here’s a fun Big Ten matchup in the next of our CFB best bets that’s bound to be a slugfest. You have a Nebraska team that probably should be undefeated against an inspired-looking Rutgers squad that actually is undefeated. In an environment like Memorial Stadium, what could be better?

If this game were played in Piscataway, I’d love for the Scarlet Knights to win outright. With it being at Nebraska though, I still think this is a one-possession type of game, even if Rutgers doesn’t necessarily match up the greatest with the Cornhuskers. But they have yet to face a back like Kyle Monangai, either.

Really, this Rutgers team wins with defense, as evidenced by their 21-18 win against Washington in Week 5. I know Dylan Raiola’s hype has been a talking point, but he’s actually just been okay this season. Not bad at all, but no performances that have really “wowed” yet.

In the Scarlet Knights’ only other road game this season, they came out on top as 3-point underdogs. They could very well do the same here, but I’m happy taking the points in a matchup that I expect to come down to the wire.

Clemson vs. Florida State Prediction: Saturday, October 5th

Both of these teams have had rather interesting seasons. The Tigers started out with a crucial matchup against Georgia where they were absolutely steamrolled but have been the team doing the steamrolling ever since.

FSU, fresh off a near-CFP appearance, came in as a top pick to be right back in the picture this season but you truly can’t overstate how bad they’ve been. Their singular win came in Week 4 against Cal and last week at SMU they were back to getting pummeled. So, two teams on completely different trajectories at the moment.

Clemson, since that Week 1 loss, has scored 40+ points in each game against respectable opponents like Appalachian State, NC State and Stanford. Cade Klubnik finally looks good back there and now gets to face an FSU defense that allowed 42 points to SMU their last time out.

They even gave up 28 to an average-at-best Boston College offense earlier in the season. I see the Tigers being able to score at will in this one as Florida State, once again, comes away with another disappointing loss. Clemson’s over on their team total will round out our Week 6 CFB best bets.
