CBB DFS Top Guards
Jordan Dingle, Pennsylvania @ Brown ($8.6K)
Dingle set a Big 5 record in early December when he scored 120 points in Big 5 play. The previous record was 116 held by Cliff Anderson of St. Joseph’s in 1966-67. Dingle’s 30 points against Temple came after 25 at Villanova, 37 against La Salle, 28 against St. Joseph’s. In the history of City Series play going back to 1955, almost 350 players have led their Big 5 teams in scoring and none did what Dingle did. That's a little background on the type of star that Dingle is in the Ivy League and elsewhere. He is a 30-30 player and that means he is a main lineup lock- with 33.9% usage (third in the entire nation) and 35.7% shot rate (ninth in the nation). The kid is a stud and just lock him in all lineups.
Paxon Wojcik/Kino Lilley Jr., Brown vs. Pennsylvania ($7.0K/$7.2K)
Wojcik and Lilley are Brown's answers to the Penn combo of Dingle and Clark Slajchert (more on Slajchert below). Wojcik has always been a DFS favorite when on the slate as he is a stat sheet stuffer and always a solid point per dollar cash play. Over his last five games he is averaging 11 points, 8.4 rebounds and 3.8 assists for a 29.90 DK fantasy point average.
Lilly broke out as the Ivy League Rookie of the Year last season, finishing in the top 10 across conference games in minutes played, foul shooting, and 3-point shooting. He connected at a 43.4% clip from deep against conference foes and continues to be the offensive spark on most nights for the Bears this season. He has a big-time 26.7% shot rate along with a 22.9% usage while playing nearly every minute of the game.
Other Top Guards
Top point per-dollar plays
- Caleb McConnell, Rutgers ($7.3K): My guy, but probably GPP only tonight; 27.5 DraftKings fantasy points in his last five games.
- Jarius Hicklen, North Florida ($6.8K): 30 DraftKings fantasy points in his last five games; 40% from three-point range.
- Avery Anderson III, Oklahoma State ($6.5K): 21.3% assist rate and 4.4% steal rate, his price is dropping ($500)
- Kedrian Johnson, West Virginia ($6.3K): 23.6% assist rate; 4.0% steal rate; 28/30/30 DraftKings fantasy points per game in last three games and playing mega minutes.
CBB DFS Value Guards
Clark Slajchert, Penn @ Brown ($5.6K)
Junior guards Dingle and Slajchert continue to be the engines driving Penn’s offense. It is very obvious from watching the Quakers play, but it doesn’t make it any less true. Besides a little Nick Spinoso, the two guards are so dominant in their system that it shows a worrying lack of scoring diversity but that isn't for us to worry about in DFS. Slajchert is back after missing three games and played 21 minutes against Wilkes last week scoring 11 points with two rebounds, two steals, and two dimes. He should be back to his normal 35+ minutes tonight and is a steal at this price with a 25.9% usage and 29.6% shot rate. A healthy Slajchert could hit 6-8X tonight if this game takes off.
Jalen Blackmon, Stetson vs. North Florida ($5.7K)
Blackmon is a solid shooting combo guard who came to Stetson from Grand Canyon hoping to shine with a bigger opportunity. At one time, he was on pace to become Indiana's all-time high school scoring leader until a blown knee ruined the dream. Now, he is at Stetson and is finally showing the ability that scouts have raved about for a few years now. His biggest issue in the past was taking care of the basketball and he has done just fine plus having scored north of 30 DraftKings points in two of his last three games. With a 25.1% usage and 27.1% shot rate, Blackmon is too cheap tonight, especially with North Florida pushing the pace.
Other Value Guards
Top point per-dollar value plays
- Jose Placer, North Florida ($5.9K)
- Fletcher Loyer, Purdue ($5.8K) Is scoring reliant, but we've seen what he can do when he gets hot.
- Max Martz, Pennsylvania ($5.4K)
- Aaron Cooley, Brown ($4.1K) Double-digit DraftKings fantasy points in his last three games.
- Luke Brown, Stetson ($4.2K)
CBB DFS Top Forwards
Zack Edey, Purdue vs. Rutgers ($10.2K)
If the National Player of the Year award were handed out today, I have no doubt it would go to Edey. The big Canadian is the best player on the #1 team in the nation and putting up video game stats with 22.6 points, 13.9 rebounds plus a 21.2% offensive rebounding rate (second in the country) and a 28.3% defensive boards rate (17th). With no Jaden Ivey or Trevion Williams, it is now the Edey Show for the Boilermakers, and he isn't just beating up on patsies — see how he destroyed the Duke’s and Gonzaga frontcourts at PK85 Invitational in November. The Rutgers frontcourt is not bad with Cliff Omoruyi and Mawot Mag, but this is a different animal and Edey is a lock every night that he is on the slate.
Carter Hendricksen, North Florida @ Stetson ($6.8K)
Hendriksen is usually one of the best clutch shooters for North Florida but on Saturday, he found baskets hard to come by in the Ospreys’ ASUN opener against Austin Peay. Better late than never though, as he led a comeback in regulation by scoring seven points in a row inside the two-minute mark to lead UNF to the win. Even after failing to score in the first 11 minutes of the game, Hendricksen ended with 15 points and nine rebounds which goes to show how good of a player he is in the ASUN Conference. With a 25.2% usage and 27.2% shot rate, Hendricksen is too cheap in this spot tonight especially since he is such a good rebounder (11.2% offensive board rate) facing a bad rebounding Stetson team (36.4% — 355th in the nation).
Other Top Forwards
Top point-per-dollar plays
- Moussa Cisse, Oklahoma State ($7.6K) 30.5% rebound and 12.5% block rate (both fifth in the country).
- Cliff Omoruyi, Rutgers ($8.6K) Omoruyi has been a beast but can he stay out of foul trouble against Edey?
- Tre Mitchell, West Virginia ($6.5K) Another one of my guys - 14.6 PPG and 7.2 RPG (28.4 DraftKings fantasy points) in his last five games, but a tough matchup
- Josh Smith, Stetson ($6.7K) 32+ DraftKings fantasy points in two of last three games.
