College Basketball CBB DFS Picks
CBB DFS Top Guards
Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG |
Tristen Newton | UCONN | UNH | 9400 | 39.62 |
Tristen Newton has been a true stat-stuffer for UConn and he’s coming off a triple-double 55 DK performance last game. The senior point guard now has three games with 47+ DK points and at least 25 DK in every contest. He owns one of the best floor/ceiling DFS combos in the sport right now and deserves this expensive price tag. Newton is more of an upside GPP play tonight in a blowout win, but we’ve seen that ceiling multiple times in UConn’s big wins.
Brooks Barnhizer | NW | NIU | 8800 | 36.45 |
Both Brooks Barnhizer and Boo Buie are top guard plays on this slate as they anchor Northwestern. People may look to Buie because he’s cheaper, but Barnhizer has been the better DFS stud for most of this season. The wing is averaging 16.4 PPG and 8.2 RPG with plenty of ancillary stat production. He has 37+ DK in all but one game so far and should have another top-tier outing against NIU tonight.
Zarique Nutter | NIU | NW | 7300 | 28.96 |
David Coit is the DFS headliner for NIU, but he’s too expensive on this slate to roster in cash. He definitely has GPP upside with his three-point shooting, but the price is a tad much for optimal builds. Zarique Nutter is notably cheaper for similar production and a safer/more consistent cash floor. The junior wing is averaging 16.3 PPG, 5.8 RPG, and 29 DK this season and he’s coming off an excellent 36 DK effort vs DePaul.
Jameer Nelson Jr. | TCU | HOUB | 6500 | 25.95 |
Even in a blowout win for TCU, Jameer Nelson Jr. offers GPP upside on this slate at a sub-7k price. He has DFS performances of 41, 29, and 27 DK points this season – all coming in TCU blowout victories. Unfortunately, though, he’s sharing point guard duties with Avery Anderson and the scoring/DFS production from TCU is spread out among multiple guys. We’ll see if this changes when TCU plays tougher opponents but for now, Nelson is a GPP upside play because of the inconsistent role. The same goes for Avery Anderson and Micah Peavy tonight at their prices.
Rocket Watts | OAK | XAV | 6200 | 18.42 |
Rocket Watts started the season very slow, but he’s picked it up lately. Watts, along with Trey Townsend, is a top playmaker for Oakland and he’s very much in play in this uptempo matchup vs Xavier. The senior point guard has 29, 25, and 27 DK in the past three games with a notable uptick in shot volume and usage from what we saw in Oakland’s first two games. This 6k-range price tag is actually a bargain for a guy who can give us 30 DK or more at his best for GPP lineups.
Desmond Claude | XAV | OAK | 6100 | 26.17 |
Xavier has multiple guards in play tonight in a higher-scoring matchup vs Oakland. The best per-dollar play among them is Desmond Claude, who’s underpriced compared to Quincy Olivari and Dayvion McKnight. Claude has stepped into a much bigger role offensively this season with a 24% usage rate and a 25% shot rate from the wing. He has 24+ DK in all but one game so far and is averaging 15.5 PPG. He’s slowly getting a price increase, but it’s still a clear bargain. |
CBB DFS Value Guards
Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG |
Ty Berry | NW | NIU | 5600 | 16.3 |
Even with a price increase, Ty Berry is still a solid value guard priced below 6k. He’s scored 13 and 14 points in the past two games with 25 and 28 DK, respectively. When Berry is hitting threes like he’s doing lately, he’ll exceed value. He’s more of a GPP upside value tonight, but the 5x or 6x value is there if Berry gets hot from deep as Northwestern’s best perimeter shooter.
Augustas Marciulionis | STMRY | UTAH | 5300 | 18.75 |
Many of Saint Mary’s top players are priced a bit high for optimal cash builds, though Mitchell Saxen and Aidan Mahaney are GPP options. One value to consider is Augustas Marciulionis as a salary-saver in all formats. The Gaels’ junior guard had a few quiet games to start the year but he’s picked it up over the past week. He has 28 and 33 DK in the past two games with 14 and 17 points scored, respectively. He’s a nice cheap way to get exposure to the late-night hammer game.
John Blackwell | WISC | WIU | 5000 | 17.5 |
Wisconsin’s backcourt is admittedly tough to figure out this season. Chucky Hepburn and AJ Storr have been the headliners at different points while Max Klesmit and John Blackwell are showing flashes as well. Until we see more consistent roles and DFS production, taking the value with Klesmit and Blackwell is the safer strategy – especially in a low-scoring blowout win tonight. As for Blackwell, he has 25+ DK in two of the last three games and 16+ DK in five of six games this season.
Hassan Diarra | UCONN | UNH | 4000 | 16.42 |
With Stephon Castle sidelined, Hassan Diarra has moved into a bigger role for UConn. He’s put up 18, 26, and 20 DK in the past three games with Castle out. Diarra’s overall stat accumulation has increased with the uptick in playing time and usage off the bench. Even in a blowout win tonight, he can return value at this cheap 4k price tag. Solomon Ball is also a value guard from the Huskies with Castle out.
Kymany Houinsou | WSU | EWU | 3900 | 16.3 |
Washington State is playing as a favorite in one of the higher-scoring games on this slate. Unfortunately, the Cougars don’t have many optimal plays when looking at the pricing compared to other players/teams tonight. One cheap option, though, is Kymany Houinsou. The backup guard/wing is playing starter-level minutes at times and can do just enough to return value at his sub-5k price. He has 23 and 17 DK in the past two games and has 14+ DK in four of five so far. He's a better per-dollar play than most of WSU's other guys tonight.
Trey Green | XAV | OAK | 3800 | 15.46 |
If you want cheap exposure to Xavier in this higher-scoring matchup vs Oakland, then Trey Green is a great value. Xavier’s sixth-man can go just enough to return value in his 20-25 minutes per game. He has 16-20 DK in four of the last five games and we’ll take that all day at a sub-4k price tag. The freshman is a key backup guard for Xavier and is logging just as many PG minutes as Dayvion McKnight right now.
Hunter Erickson | UTAH | STMRY | 3500 | 12.6 |
According to KenPom’s tracking, Hunter Erickson is actually logging the most point guard minutes for Utah so far this season. Though he comes off the bench, Erickson is still playing a key role in Utah’s backcourt as one of their best ball-handlers and he’s logging starter-level minutes more often than not. On the road at Saint Mary’s is a tough spot, but this is a very cheap price for a guy who can give us 15 DK or so as a punt play. |
CBB DFS Top Forwards
Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG |
Clifford Omoruyi | RU | STP | 9000 | 29.45 |
As will be the case all season, Cliff Omoruyi is the boom-or-bust GPP stud tonight. The low-scoring matchup and blowout potential vs Saint Peter’s is one aspect. But so is Omoruyi’s potential for 20 DK or less if he gets into foul trouble or is taking a backseat offensively. At his best, though, the Rutgers center can dominate on both ends and smash the slate for 35-45 DK points. It’s a classic GPP player profile, so take the risk if you want.
Branden Carlson | UTAH | STMRY | 8500 | 33.15 |
Branden Carlson should be a top DFS forward all season and he’s starting to get rolling. The Utah big man has 51, 33, and 35 DK in the past three games with heavy shot volume and usage. This has coincided with the Utes’ three toughest matchups as well, which is a great sign. He’s the focal point offensively in tight games and should have the ball in his hands a ton tonight in a close road battle. Expect Carlson to anchor cash lineups as a top overall play.
Trey Townsend | OAK | XAV | 8300 | 33.17 |
Trey Townsend is Oakland’s best player and he’s a very viable cash play tonight in this higher-scoring matchup vs Xavier. Even if his team loses by double-digits, Townsend can still get his numbers and come through for DFS purposes. The junior power forward has at least 27 DK in every game this season while averaging 14.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists. He’s locked into shots and usage in Oakland’s offense, so the cash floor should be there for a strong stat line. When Oakland played Illinois and Ohio St earlier this season, Townsend had 32 and 37 DK.
Emanuel Miller | TCU | HOUB | 8200 | 30.15 |
There are many GPP plays from TCU, but Emanuel Miller is a top cash forward tonight. He has at least 27 DK in every game so far and offers a strong floor of ancillary stat production while averaging 12.6 PPG. The senior wing should have no problem stuffing the stat sheet again tonight in an easy, high-scoring, and uptempo matchup despite the likely blowout scenario.
Alex Karaban | UCONN | UNH | 7100 | 29.04 |
Alex Karaban appears to be having that sophomore breakout season, averaging 16 PPG as one of UConn’s top scorers so far. His GPP upside isn’t too high to break the slate tonight but his cash production should be there in this easy matchup vs New Hampshire. The blowout factor is definitely a worry, but Karaban has produced in UConn’s big wins already this year. Donovan Clingan is the better GPP target but Karaban is more optimal at a cheaper price.
Steven Crowl | WISC | WIU | 6800 | 24.25 |
In Wisconsin’s frontcourt, we have both Steven Crowl and Tyler Wahl as viable options tonight. The blowout factor definitely creates some risk, but both should dominate this easy matchup down low. Wahl is the safer cash play and more optimal at his price. Crowl, though, has the GPP upside to smash when he’s having his way in the paint. He’s shown the 30+ DK upside already this year and can do it again tonight against a weaker, undersized WIU frontcourt. |
CBB DFS Value Forwards
Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG |
Joshua Jefferson | STMRY | UTAH | 5600 | 22.83 |
After being a backup last year, Joshua Jefferson has stepped into a much bigger role for Saint Mary’s in his sophomore season. The power forward has a team-high 27% usage rate so far and his shot rate is the same as Aidan Mahaney’s for the team lead. Despite Jefferson only playing 25 minutes or so per game, the offense tends to run through him when he’s on the floor. He’s a solid cash or GPP value at his sub-6k price tonight.
Lawson Lovering | UTAH | STMRY | 5300 | 21.1 |
Branden Carlson is obviously the headliner in Utah’s frontcourt, but Lawson Lovering is a decent salary-saver tonight. The 7-foot-1 center is doing just enough to return value with his rebounding and secondary offensive role while playing alongside Carlson. He has 18+ DK in four straight games with 22+ DK in three of those. That’s solid production for the mid-5k range in cash, we know Utah needs his size against Saint Mary’s tonight.
Jay Alvarez | HOUB | TCU | 5100 | 23.33 |
There aren’t many Houston Christian players worth rostering tonight, but Jay Alvarez is a decent value. This game should be fast-paced and high-scoring overall even if TCU wins big. As for Alvarez, he’s a wing playmaker who leads the team in usage and shot rate this season. He has 19 and 22 DK in two blowout losses already this season, so we know he can produce despite his team getting smashed.
Abou Ousmane | XAV | OAK | 4500 | 16.38 |
Despite moving to the bench in recent games, Abou Ousmane is still seeing heavy usage with a high shot rate when he is on the floor for 15 minutes or so. The playing time isn’t ideal to trust for a value play, but the elite-level usage is what we love for any reserve. Ousmane was a high-usage guy for North Texas over the past two seasons and can dominate the paint at his best. At this sub-5k price, he can exceed value with rebounds, blocks, and points in the post.
Samson Johnson | UCONN | UNH | 4300 | 17 |
If you want cheaper exposure to UConn tonight, Samson Johnson is a decent option. The backup big usually logs 20 minutes or so and plays more than you’d think behind Donovan Clingan. In this blowout win, we may see more Johnson in the second half for him to return value on this cheap price. This is his season-low DK price despite having 31 and 15 DK points in the past two games. |
