CBB DFS Top Guards

Boogie Ellis - USC vs. Gonzaga ($7.9K DK)

Boogie Ellis was lights out in his last game against Eastern Washington, playing his best game of the season, tying a season-high in points with 28 on 69% shooting and 80% from the three-point line with a career-high eight 3-pointers (39.5 DK points). They haven’t come much more consistent than Ellis as he has a 30 DK point floor with his only sub-30 fantasy point game coming in a blowout in the second game of the season. With a 24.3% usage/29.9% shot rate to go along with a 20.4% assist Ellis is one of my top overall plays of the night as he faces Gonzaga in the late-night hammer.

Miles Kelly - Georgia Tech vs. Duke ($7.2K DK/7.1K FD)

After a couple of tough losses Miles Kelly and the Yellow Jackets woke up and delivered their biggest win so far for Damon Stoudamire by beating Mississippi State 67-59 earlier this week. Kelly put up a monster game with 22 points and 12 rebounds and has reached 20 real points in three of their last five games and at least 30 DK points in four of their last five. Kelly is a member of what I like to call the 30/30 Club – 30% or more in both usage and shot rate. He carries a 30.9% usage and 34.7% shot (23rd in nation) plus an 8.6% offensive rebound rate making him a core play today as a $7.2K DK bargain against Duke.

Wooga Polar - Miami vs. Notre Dame ($7.1K DK)

Wooga Poplar has been the Breakout ACC Player of the Year so far this season by becoming one of the best wings in the conference. He has also stepped right into Isaiah Wong’s shoes. While not the ball handler Wong was, Poplar makes up for it with insane athleticism and a promising jimp shot. He is averaging north of 30 DK points per game and is a solid cash play with a low of 26 and high of 35 fantasy points on the season. Today Miami faces a mediocre Notre Dame and comes into the day with the third highest implied score on the slate (80.50). Poplar has a 24.4% usage/26.4% shot rate and 19.0% defensive rebound rate on the season and while the masses may lean to a cheaper Nigel Pack, I will continue to play Wooga Poplar in my main lineup.

Other Top CBB DFS Guards

  • Allen Flanigan, Mississippi ($9.0K DK/8.4K FD) - What a start to the season for the former Auburn guard. He is second in the SEC in points per game (20.2) plus is also averaging 7.2 rebounds and 42 DK points per game.
  • Isaiah Stevens, Colorado State ($9.3K DK) - Stevens is a star and always in play. He has back-to-back 40+ DK point games while playing nearly every minute.  Stevens will be a major problem for the Huskies tonight.
  • Sahvir Wheeler, Washington ($7.2K DK) - Wheeler can easily be a main team play at this price and he has got better fantasy point wise every game this season. Averaging 33.95 DK points and has 37 and 38 DK over his last two games.
  • Kobe Johnson, USC ($6.9K DK) - Johnson has 15 steals in his first five games played this season and his 3.0 steals per game average is tied for eighth in the country. He has three straight 30+ DK point games and averaging 30.0 fantasy points on the season.
  • Jermaine Couisnard, Oregon ($6.6K DK/6.5K FD) - Couisnard is typically chalk and when he is chalk, he seems to fail. He still has been fairly solid scoring over 20 DK points in every game but one.

CBB DFS Top Guard Value Play

TJ Caldwell - Mississippi vs. Memphis (4.5K DK/4.6K FD)

Sophomore TJ Caldwell is poised to make a big second-year leap this season and head coach Chris Beard is bringing him along at a nice pace. He doesn’t start but is still playing 25+ minutes which is what we want in a sub-$5K player. On any given night Caldwell can be one of the best young players in the SEC and as he adds consistency to his great size, length and quickness he will just continue to get better.

Other CBB DFS Guard Value Plays

  • Koren Johnson, Washington ($5.4K DK) - If Paul Mulcahy is out Johnson becomes a top value and a possible main lineup play as he averages 18.4 DK points off the bench. Mulcahy at $5.7K DK is also a great value so if you save some funds for this second to last game you can play one or the other in a main or alt-type lineup.
  • AJ Storr, Wisconsin ($5.3K DK/5.4K FD) - This is a pace up game and we all know that Storr can score with the best of them. He has struggled but word is that Storr is slowing his game down and ready for the breakout game and with a 30.0% usage/36.1% shot rate he could explode in a game environment like today.
  • Brennan Rigsby, Oregon ($4.2K DK.4.4K FD) - I play Rigsby a lot for a value dart piece. He does not start but will give you 20+ minutes and is usually over 15 DK points.
  • DJ Horne, North Carolina State ($5.8K DK) - Horne plays almost 30 minutes per game with a 24.1% shot and 3.3% steal rate. This is a last man in type play.

CBB DFS Top Forwards

Kyle Filipowski - Duke @ Georgia Tech ($9.7K DK/8.8K FD)

Kyle Filipowski is just a good basketball player. The reigning ACC Rookie of the Year and ACC Tournament MVP has not missed a beat this season. He is No. 2 in the KenPom Player of the Year rankings with extraordinary numbers- 31.0% usage/34.0% shot rate; 34.2% combined rebounding and a 6.3% block rate. He is playing out of his mind at the moment averaging nearly 50 DK points over his last two games and today gets to face Georgia Tech and their 222nd ranked defensive rebounding squad. If you have the funds, you cannot go wrong with Kyle Filipowski.

JaKobe Coles - TCU @ Georgetown ($7.3K DK)

With a 156.0 game total in a pace up game against Georgetown I am all about JaKobe Coles today. The kid is the real deal and 7.3K DK is just too cheap. He comes into today’s game with a 25.0% shot rate, 19.5% defensive rebounding rate and a 3.4% steal. Besides one blowout game Coles has been above 26 DK points in every game and can easily go for 40+ today against the Hoyas. It is a good idea to have at least one TCU player in your lineups today.

Harrison Ingram - North Carolina vs. Florida State ($8.0K DK/7.5K FD)

Of course, Armando Bacot is always in play but if you can’t afford the Tar Heel star then Harrison Ingram becomes a near must for your lineups. The forward has been a phenomenal addition to the Tar Heels and is playing incredible as it is so apparent that he was being held back by the Stanford basketball system. The junior forward was one of the main contributors in the No. 17 Tar Heels' 100-92 win over No. 10 Tennessee, tying his season-high performance of 20 points and shooting 50 percent from beyond the arc. He is playing nearly 40 minutes a game and has not gone below 25 DK points at all this season with a 36 DK point average over his last four games.

Other Top CBB DFS Forwards

  • Norchad Omier, Miami ($8.8K DK) - This is a great spot for Omier who is averaging 35 DK points a game and should have his way against the Irish front court.
  • David Jones, Memphis ($8.4K DK/7.6K FD) - Jones is a GPP-special as he can take a game over at any moment. He put up 55 DK points against Arkansas and is always a double-double threat.
  • Dontrez Styles, Georgetown ($7.4K DK) - Styles is another GPP play in a pace up game. He averages 28.6 DK points with 22% usage.
  • Joel Scott, Colorado State ($7.7K DK) - Scott flies right under the radar with Isaiah Stevens on the team but the kid can ball and has a 22% defensive rebound rate and 4.7% block/2.8% steal rate. He has yet to go below 25 DK points this season.
  • Anton Watson, Gonzaga ($7.4K DK) - Watson has been over 30 DK points in every game this season (33.3 DK average) but the Purdue game. USC can be pushed around at the boards.

Note: Quienten Post (Boston College), Keion Brooks (Washington) and Armando Bacot (North Carolina) are all firmly in play as the highest priced forwards and can smash the slate. I just wanted to focus on some of the other strong point per dollar forwards.

Top CBB DFS Forward Value

Franck Kepnang - Washington vs. Colorado State ($4.9K DK)

Franck Kepnang ultimately lost a starting spot battle with Braxton Meah last season but still was averaging more minutes per game than Meah early on as he was on his way to career highs in every statistical category. Then he fell awkwardly in a narrow loss at Oregon State and was diagnosed with a torn ACL to end his season. Franck is finally getting healthy and has started the last three games. He is an energy shot blocker and offensive rebounder with a combined 35.2 rebounding rate and if he can stay out of foul trouble, he can crush the Colorado State interior.

Other CBB DFS Forward Values

  • De’Ante Green, Florida State ($4.5K DK/4.3K FD) - Green has been playing close to 30 minutes and has been getting better as the season progresses. He has 14, 17 and 25 DK points over his last three games.
  • Kebba Nije, Notre Dame ($4.3K DK) - Nije has a tough spot against Norchad Omier but he is a talented player and broke into the Irish starting five last game. This will be only his third game of the season but he sure looked good against South Carolina playing 28 minutes and scoring 20.5 DK points.
  • Moussa Cisse, Mississippi ($4.9K DK/5.4K FD) - Cisse was just cleared by the NCAA to play this season in Oxford and his first game will be against the team where Cisse began his college career- Memphis. This isa cheap price for Cisse who will alternate with fellow big man Jamarion Sharp.
  • Vincent Iwuchukwu, USC ($4.0K DK) - Iwuchukwu played his second-most minutes of the season and scored a season-high in points with 13 in the win over Eastern Washington on Wednesday. He has all of the talent in the world and will be needed against Gonzaga tonight.
