CBB DFS Top Guards
Terquavion Smith - North Carolina State vs. Furman ($8.6K)
Smith - the Wolfpack's dynamic, talented 6'4 point guard - returned to school this year despite being projected as a first-round NBA draft pick at the conclusion of his impressive freshman season and he has not disappointed. The sophomore is third in the ACC in scoring at 17.8 PPG and leads the league in assists with 5.5 APG. With a 27.8% usage and 27.4% shot rate he will be facing a Furman defense that is ranked 157th in defense efficiency per KenPom, Smith and/or teammate Jarkel Joiner should be anchoring the guard spot in most of your lineups tonight.
Jarkel Joiner- North Carolina State vs. Furman ($7.6K)
I love this game tonight between NC State and Furman - two fast teams that are lacking defense. Joiner has been one of the top transfer surprises this season. Last week, during an 85-82 loss at home to High Point, Furman surrendered 59.3 percent shooting from the floor and 64.7 percent accuracy from 3-point range- only great news for both Terq Smith and Joiner. Joiner is averaging 40 DraftKings fantasy points over his last two games and over his last five is carrying a 23.3% usage rate while playing 35+ minutes. Joiner has taken at least 10 shots in every game but one and is in play tonight- especially in GPPs
Jordan Gainey- USC-Upstate ($6.8K DK)
It may be a little step up in competition but Gainey is a mid-major star. Anytime that you have a player with usage AND shooting rates above 30% you have to take notice and that's what we have with the Spartans sophomore- 30.1% usage and 32.4% shot- both Top-50 nationally. With 46, 39 and 50 DraftKings fantasy points over his last three games Gainey gets his chance to show off to some ACC competition tonight and is viable in all formats.
Other Top Guards
Top point per $ Plays
- Mike Bothwell- Furman ($8.1K) Bothwell/Slawson makes for an awesome GPP game stack duo (26% usage & shot)
- Kendric Davis ($8.7K) Coming off his best game of year (Auburn)
- Caleb Mills- Florida State ($7.0K DK) FSU leader is usage (26.9%) and shot rate (27.5%)
- Kerr Kriisa- Arizoina ($7.2K) 35.4% assist
- Matthew Cleveland- Florida State ($6.9K)
- Jack Clark- North Carolina State ($6.4K) 22.7% D-Rebound rate
- Courtney Ramey- Arizona ($6.4K) Cheaper piece of a 93-point team implied
CBB DFS Value Guards
Marcus Foster- Furman @ North Carolina State ($4.6K)
Foster and teammate JP Pegues are both interesting values tonight. Foster has put up some big games this season including a three-game stretch at the end of November- early December where he was averaging almost 35 DraftKings fantasy points that included a 22-point and seven rebound (39.3 DKFP) game and then a 12-point, five rebound and four assist (30.8 DKFP) game against Appalachian State. NC State will push the tempo tonight putting some of these cheap Furman pieces in play and at price points that really will not hurt us if they do flop.
Top point per $ plays
- Mysta Goodloe- USC Upstate ($5.3K) 20 pts in 24 mins in debut on Saturday also finished with five rebounds, two assists and two steals plus 11 of 12 free throws, which marked a season-high for any Spartans player. Oh- and 29% usage, 25% combined rebound…..risky due to price and only 2nd but could nuke?
- JP Pegues- Furman ($4.9K) 30DKFP twice this season and can hit the three
- Jalen Warley- Florida State ($4.7K) Have had enough of this guy..but still decent pt/$
- Jayden Hardaway- Memphis ($4.1K) 19 shots last 2 games
- Floyd Rideau Jr - USC-Upstate ($3.0K) A starter at $3K- sure won't win a GPP but has had a few games over 5X
- Nick Alves G/F- USC-Upstate ($3.2K)
CBB DFS Top Forwards
Oumar Ballo & Azuolas Tubelis- Arizona vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi ($8.9K/8.8K)
This is arguably the top frontcourt in the nation, and they were on full display over the weekend in a huge game at the Las Vegas Classic. Tubelis and Ballo led the team to an 89-75 victory over No. 14 Indiana as Tubelis had a team-high 21 points with seven rebounds, while Ballo owned the interior with 15 points and 12 boards. It is nearly impossible to make a choice between these two super-studs and if possible- get them both in your lineups. Tubelis has a 27.9% usage rate along with an elite 33% shot rate plus he has a combined 31.4% rebound. On the other side, Ballo is carrying a 24% usage with an awesome 37.7% combined rebound rate We do have to worry about the blowout factor here but they should both eat enough to easily make value.
Noah Clowney- Alabama vs.Memphis ($6.4K)
Clowney was named back-to-back Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week after Bama's huge win over #1 Houston on Saturday. He scored 16 points along with 11 rebounds for his first career double-double and it was on the road against a national power. He now has seven three-pointers in his last two outings and has recorded back-to-back double-digit scoring games. After an up-and-down November Clowney is becoming a solid cash play, especially at this price where 4X value is certainly attainable.
Other Top Forwards:
Top point per $ plays
- Armando Bacot- North Carolina ($8.7K) Double-double machine and no one on this Citadel team has the size to contain him- a top play along with Ballo and Tubelis
- Jalen Slawson- Furman ($8.5K) GPP only due to the talent at Fwd but can nuke the slate - should have his way against NC State interior - 24% D-Reb rate
- DeAndre Williams- Memphis ($8.0K) Always one of the safest players on the board- 31% combined Reb rate and 51, 35 and 38 DKFP last 3 games
- Isaac Mushila- Texas A&M-Corpus Christi ($7.8K) Awesome 15.1% O-Reb (35th in the nation) & 27.1% D-Reb (25th in the nation) but faces the Ballo/Tubelis pair
CBB DFS Value Forwards
Garrett Hien- Furman @ North Carolina State ($5.0K)
Furman is our go-to spot tonight for value. We have Hien who is now starting and has put up almost 22 DraftKings fantasy points per game over his last five. He is a solid shooter (66% from the field) with decent rebounding rates (8% O-Reb and 5.3 RPG). This game may shoot out as North Carolina State has struggled while the Paladins have wins over Belmont and South Carolina and proven that they can compete.
Other Value Forwards:
Top point per $ plays
- Charles Bediako- Alabama ($4.9K) 15.7% O-Reb rate (25th in nation) and 9.4% Block (29th in the nation) but also commits 6.1 fouls per 40
- Khydarius Smith- USC-Upstate ($4.2K) 3 straight 18+ DKFP
- Naheem McLeod - Florida State ($5.2K) Coming off a 26 DKFP game (6 blocks)
