Pfaadt spent much of the day pitching his way out of trouble while giving up nine hits and improved to 5-1 with a 2.78 ERA. His peripherals don’t really back up the strong record, making him a potential sell-high candidate. Still, we’d expect his peripherals to improve, even if his ERA climbs some in the process. He’ll make his next start in Philadelphia.

Correa was scratched from Sunday’s lineup, and the Twins have not played a game since. However, the 30-year-old is back in the lineup today, which means there may never have been any reason to be concerned.

Carpenter hadn’t ruled out a return to the big leagues this off-season, but no opportunity materialized, and he will now hang up his cleats. A 14-year veteran, Carpenter spent 12 of those years with the Cardinals and then a year each with the Yankees and Padres. He will finish his career with a .259/.366/.449 slash line with 179 home runs, 659 RBI, and a 31.5 WAR.

The Orioles have yet to announce a starter, but we know McDermott is physically with the team right now, so it seems likely he’ll get the ball. He started the season on the minor league injured list with a lat strain and has pitched just 9 2/3 innings across three starts so far this year, so even if he does start, he likely won’t pitch deep enough into the game to be worth rostering in fantasy leagues. However, McDermott did have a 3.78 ERA and 144 strikeouts in 100 innings at Triple-A last year, so he could work his way into the Orioles’ rotation plans at some point this summer.

The Orioles activated Ramon Urias from the injured list, and needed a spot, so Carlson, who is 0-for-15 at the big league level this season, will be sent back down. Jorge Mateo should serve as the fourth outfielder now.

The veteran wound up missing he minimum amount of days with his hamstring injury. The Orioles have been starting Emmanuel Rivera at third base, so we’d expect Urías to immediately step back into a starting role until Jordan Westburg returns from his own hamstring injury.

The 32-year-old has allowed two runs on five hits in 9 2/3 innings while striking out 12 and walking nine. His fastball is up to 97 mph, and he has shown the ability to handle the highest leverage innings. With the Red Sox bullpen continuing to lose one-run games, the team could decide it’s time to see if the veteran can make himself valuable to the big league bullpen.
