Jace Jung went 1-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI on Sunday afternoon as the Tigers shut out the Orioles.
Jung delivered a two-out RBI single off of Dean Kremer in the sixth inning that extended the Tigers’ lead to 4-0 and chased the O’s right-hander from the game. He then raced around to score on an RBI single off the bat of Dillon Dingler. He’s hitting .143/.333/.143 with two RBI and a 5/4 K/BB ratio through his first 18 plate appearances with the Tigers this season.
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch confirmed Keider Moreno will be recalled for Tuesday’s game against the Red Sox.
Hinch wouldn’t disclose whether Montero will be utilized as a traditional starter or follow an opener, but the 24-year-old righty is going to gobble up multiple frames at some point during Tuesday’s showdown at Comerica Park. He’s recorded a respectable 4.15 ERA and 16.1 percent strikeout rate across four starts this season in the big leagues. He’s not a recommended streaming option for fantasy purposes, but he figures to fill-in while Casey Mize (hamstring) is on the injured list.
Josh Smith was scratched from Monday’s lineup with back soreness.
Smith likely would’ve been at shortstop for Monday’s series opener against the Rockies with Corey Seager continuing to nurse a hamstring injury, but he’ll get the night off with Ezequiel Duran taking over. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern at the moment. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.
Diamondbacks recalled SS Jordan Lawlar from Triple-A Reno.
Lawlar returns to the majors for the first time since the late stages of the 2023 campaign after hitting .336/.413/.579 with 23 extra-base hits and 13 steals over 37 games this season for Triple-A Reno. The 22-year-old top prospect projects as an instant five-category fantasy impact contributor in a versatile multi-position role, splitting time between shortstop, second base and the hot corner, for one of the most potent lineups in baseball. He figures to encounter some initial turbulence as he acclimates to everyday life at the highest level, but he’s one of the most talented prospects in baseball with real power/speed upside potential. He should be rostered in all fantasy formats.
Diamondbacks activated RHP Kendall Graveman from the 15-day injured list.
Graveman missed all of last season recovering from shoulder surgery and missed the opening six-plus weeks of the 2025 campaign due to a back issue. The 34-year-old veteran figures to pitch in high-leverage spots and should make an impact for Arizona’s injury-depleted bullpen mix.
Diamondbacks designated INF Garrett Hampson for assignment.
Hampson has been booted from Arizona’s active roster with top prospect Jordan Lawlar reaching the big leagues ahead of Monday’s showdown against the Giants. The 30-year-old was hitting .167/.359/.167 with two steals in 18 games this season.
Diamondbacks designated LHP José Castillo for assignment.
Castillo has been jettisoned from Arizona’s active roster to make room for Kendall Graveman to return from the injured list. The 29-year-old lefty posted an unsightly 11.37 ERA across five relief appearances this season in the majors.
