Broncos traded up with the Eagles to select LSU EDGE Sai’vion Jones with the No. 101 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Jones (6’5/283) has the perfect build for an edge rusher in the NFL. Standing at 6-foot-6 and 280 pounds, Jones displays a lot of power off the ball. He posted career numbers in 2024, with 19 tackles, two pass deflections, 4.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. Jones screams potential, and is a true pass rusher, posting a 76.8 grade from PFF, with a 14.6 win percentage. Although Jones is a powerful pass rusher, he does have some weaknesses. He plays high, causing him to get pushed around quite a bit. In his game against USC, Jones posted a 42.3 run defense grade, and he was exposed at times, causing him to not capitalize off his defenders. He has the body frame, but Jones isn’t the most athletic edge rusher. Although he is active with his hands, Jones can be inconsistent off the ball. Meaning, he is sometimes late with that initial jab step, and he loses that momentum. Overall, Jones has the potential to be a productive edge rusher in the NFL. But, he is also a bit of a project type of guy.

Tyler Fitzgerald (ribs) is likely to start a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday.

Fitzgerald has a follow-up appointment on Tuesday, which is when he’ll potentially be cleared to kick off a rehab assignment. The 27-year-old infielder has been out since early May recovering from a left rib fracture. He’ll likely need a couple minor league games to get back up to speed before returning to San Francisco’s lineup.

Jose Quintana will have his next start pushed back to Friday due to left shoulder soreness.

It doesn’t sound like a massive concern, but the Brewers can’t really afford to take any chances with Brandon Woodruff (shoulder, ankle) no longer an option to return later this week. The 36-year-old veteran southpaw was originally slated to take the ball for Wednesday’s series finale against the Guardians, but that’s no longer happening. Barring an unexpected development, he should be ready for Friday’s showdown against the Twins.

Yu Darvish (elbow) will throw a bullpen session on Monday.

Darvish threw a 48-pitch simulated game last week. Padres manager Mike Shildt indicated that the 38-year-old veteran doesn’t need too much additional time to build up before making his season debut. The club will evaluate him following Monday’s throwing session to determine his next steps. All signs point to him rejoining San Diego’s rotation by the end of the month.

Ben Lively made an early exit from Monday’s start against the Brewers with a trainer.

Lively was removed from the contest after throwing a couple warmup tosses at the outset of the fourth inning. The 33-year-old righty scattered one hit and a pair of walks over three frames to open Monday’s game at Progressive Field. There should be an update on his status following the game.

Walker Buehler (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a pair of bullpen sessions this week.

Buehler remains in line to take the ball early next week in a series against the Mets. The 30-year-old righty hit the injured list back on May 2 with shoulder bursitis. His return would likely sent rookie Hunter Dobbins back to Triple-A Worcester.

Dekkers spent three seasons with the Cyclones of Iowa State before stepping away from football following an indictment surrounding charges related to sports gambling. He then played his final collegiate season at Iowa Western before being invited to Saints camp. Dekkers spent his redshirt season backing up Brock Purdy at Iowa State.
