Texans traded up with the Raiders to select Minnesota OT Aireontae Ersery with the No. 48 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Texans gave up picks No. 58 and 99 to move up 10 spots. Understandably, they have placed a premium on upgrading their dreadful offensive line. Ersery (6’6/331) was a three-star recruit who barely saw the field his first two collegiate campaigns before rattling off 38 starts and 800+ snaps each year from 2022-2024. Ersery allowed just 12 pressures, one hit and one sack while earning a 77.3 PFF pass block grade en route to being named Big 10 Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2024. He ran a brisk 5.01s 40-yard dash and tested as a 93rd percentile athlete at the Combine, though his 33 1/8th” arms are on the short side. He held up well against PSU Edge Abdul Carter in pass protection, but Carter’s speed and instincts gave Ersery difficulty in the run game. His hulking frame is a major asset despite some movement limitations and a tendency to bend at the waist. When he’s balanced and not lunging, Ersery roots himself to the ground against power rushers while still having deft enough footwork to run speed rushers out of the play. Ersery has a Christian Darrisaw-lite profile to his game. He will undoubtedly see the field as a rookie in Houston.

Greene put Detroit on the scoreboard with a nifty swim move to avoid a tag at home plate in the second inning before crushing his 10th big fly of the season against Red Sox starter Hunter Dobbins in the sixth inning. The 24-year-old fantasy stalwart has arrived as a true middle-of-the-order force this season for the Tigers, hitting .273/.326/.497 with 25 runs scored, 10 homers, 27 RBI and one steal over 42 games.

Aroldis Chapman gave up on run in the ninth inning on Wednesday and was saddled with a loss in relief against the Tigers.

Chapman got into trouble right away upon entering a tie ballgame in the bottom of the ninth inning by issuing a leadoff walk to Andy Ibáñez, who promptly swiped second base and advanced to third on a throwing error by catcher Connor Wong. He struck out Trey Sweeney and got a red-hot Javier Báez to pop out, which gave him a chance to send the contest to extra innings. Unfortunately, he left a fastball over the heart of the plate, which pinch-hitter Justyn-Henry Malloy smacked for a walk-off single.

It was his third double-digit strikeout performance of the season with all of them coming since April 27. He generated 21 swinging strikes, touched triple digits three times with his four-seam fastball and finished with an elite 38 percent CSW. He also issued his first walk since April 20 in this one, snapping a streak of 27 1/3 innings without handing out a free pass.

Mitchell Parker was removed from Wednesday’s start against Atlanta after taking a 107.2 mph comebacker off the left leg.

Parker was lifted from the contest at Truist Park with two outs in the fifth inning after being hit by Austin Riley’s line drive. He finished with six strikeouts and was charged with four runs over 4 2/3 innings before departing. There should be an update on his status shortly.
