Josh Jung hit a solo homer in a loss to the Athletics on Thursday.
Dalton Rushing is not in the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Athletics.
Rushing will be on the bench to open Wednesday’s contest with Will Smith handling the catching duties for Los Angeles. The 24-year-old top prospect was officially called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City after posting a .938 OPS with five homers in 31 games this season. He’ll make an impact for fantasy purposes at a relatively shallow position group if he can carve out a semi-regular role in the Dodgers’ loaded lineup.
Oneil Cruz (back) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday’s contest against the Mets.
Cruz remains out of the lineup for the fourth consecutive game due to lower back tightness. There’s been zero indication that he’s headed to the injured list, but it seems like a realistic outcome at this juncture. The 26-year-old fantasy star has eight homers and 16 steals this season through 37 games. It’ll be Ji Hwan Bae in center field on Wednesday night at Citi Field.
Brewers signed OF Eddie Rosario to a minor league contract.
Rosario will head to Triple-A Nashville as extra organizational depth for the Brewers. The 33-year-old journeyman outfielder has gotten into five games this season between Los Angeles and Atlanta.
Red Sox recalled RHP Cooper Criswell from Triple-A Worcester.
Criswell provides Boston with some extra long relief depth for the next few days and figures to factor into their pitching plans this weekend against Atlanta to fill Tanner Houck’s vacant rotation spot. The 28-year-old righty has been hit hard in three relief appearances this season at the highest level.
Red Sox placed RHP Tanner Houck on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 13, with a right flexor pronator strain.
The fantasy ramifications are pretty straightforward. Rookie sensation Hunter Dobbins will keep his spot in Boston’s rotation with Walker Buehler (shoulder) coming off the injured list next week to take Houck’s vacant spot. It’ll likely be a bullpen game or spot starter taking the ball on Sunday against Atlanta. The 28-year-old righty will get some time away from the spotlight to attempt to put things back together from a mental and physical standpoint after struggling to a calamitous 8.04 ERA through nine starts to open the season.
Sam Hauser (ankle) is available to play against the Knicks in Game 5 on Wednesday.
Hauser missed Games 2-4 after injuring his ankle in Game 1 of this series. With Jayson Tatum (Achilles) done for the year, Hauser could be relied on to play extended minutes as Boston looks to keep its season alive.
