Jets selected Missouri OT Armand Membou with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
A three-year starter at Missouri, Membou (6’4/332) is the latest high-upside trench technician to emerge from the Tigers’ system. Originally a late bloomer who didn’t hit his stride until arriving in Columbia, Membou locked down the right tackle job as a true freshman and never relinquished it, starting 30 consecutive games and earning All-SEC honors in 2024. Built like a guard but moves like a tackle, Membou is a prototype for modern-day offensive versatility. Membou boasts a stellar 9.90 RAS, bolstered by elite explosion (34” vert, 9’7” broad) and a scorching 4.91 40-yard dash at 332 pounds. On tape, he plays with body control and competitive fire, blending a sharp strike with independent hands and outstanding balance to absorb and redirect rushers. His 2024 pass-blocking efficiency ranked 98.4, allowing just 3 sacks and no hits over 294 true pass sets. His compact build and 33.5” arms will draw size concerns for an NFL tackle, but his power base, clean mirror in pass pro, and violent finishers make it easy to overlook. Membou’s run blocking thrives in zone schemes—he logged an 87.4 grade in inside zone and 85.1 in man—leveraging leverage and torque to displace defenders. He has a twitchy trigger and consistently gets out in front on pulls and outside zone. However, his tendency to lean, occasional anchor lapses vs. speed-to-power, and lack of left-side or interior experience leave some projection to be made. Still, his traits, demeanor, and tape scream long-term starter at tackle. The comp to Troy Fautanu isn’t hyperbole—Membou brings the same blend of athleticism, polish, and edge.
Dillon Dingler went 3-for-3 with a homer and three RBI on Friday evening, propelling the Tigers to a 7-5 victory over the Royals in Kansas City.
Dingler jumped on a first-pitch fastball from Seth Lugo in the second inning and crushed a 394-foot (105.6 mph EV) two-run shot that increased the Tigers’ early lead to 4-1. The 26-year-old backstop also helped to extend the lead with a run-scoring single in the eighth inning. With his three-hit attack, Dingler is now slashing a robust .303/.329/.465 with five homers and 22 RBI on the season.
Spencer Torkelson went 2-for-5 with a homer and two RBI on Friday night as the Tigers dispatched of the Royals in Kansas City.
Torkelson came through with a two-out RBI single in the fifth inning that extended the Tigers’ lead to 5-3. He tacked on a valuable insurance run in the eighth with a 436-foot (108.0) bomb to center field off of Andrew Hoffmann that made it a 6-4 ballgame. He’s now slashing .242/.352/.525 with 14 homers and 42 RBI in what has been a resurgent season for the 25-year-old slugger.
Will Vest wasn’t at his best against the Royals on Friday night, but still managed to record a safe despite allowing one run on two hits in his lone inning of work.
Vest came on with a three-run lead after Tommy Kahnle worked a scoreless eighth inning. He allowed a two-out single to Maikel Garcia who advanced to second base on defensive indifference and then an RBI single to Drew Waters that pulled the Royals to within two runs. That would be as close as they would get though as West got Mark Canha on a ground ball to second base to end it. He now boasts a 2.03 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and a 29/9 K/BB ratio over 27 innings on the season to go with eight saves and four victories.
Casey Mize struggled in a no-decision against the Royals on Friday night, allowing three runs on eight hits over his 3 1/3 innings of work.
The 28-year-old right-hander walked two and struck out four on the evening. He served up a long solo homer to Bobby Witt Jr. in the opening inning, then the Royals added another pair of runs against him in the third inning on a two-run single off the bat of Drew Waters. Mize got eight whiffs on 79 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 30 percent. On the season, he sports a 6-1 record, 2.82 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and a 45/12 K/BB ratio across 51 innings through his first nine starts. He’ll attempt to get back in the win column as he squares off against the White Sox in Chicago on Wednesday.
Bobby Witt Jr. clobbered a 442-foot solo home run on Friday night, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Royals past the visiting Tigers.
The Tigers had just struck for two runs in the top half of the inning when Witt answered right back with his titanic 442-foot (112.3 mph EV) solo shot off of Casey Mize into the fountain in left center. That would be Witt’s only hit in five at-bats on the evening. For the season, the 24-year-old superstar is now slashing .288/.346/.487 with six homers, 31 RBI and 20 stolen bases.
Seth Lugo was hit hard in Friday night’s loss to the Tigers, giving up four runs on five hits in just 3 1/3 innings of work.
The right-hander also walked a pair of batters in the ballgame while striking out three. All of the damage done against him came via the long ball, with Riley Greene crushing a two-run shot in the opening inning and Dillon Dingler adding a two-run blast in the second. Lugo got just three whiffs on 69 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 26 percent. He’ll look to bounce back as he brings a 3.45 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and a 45/17 K/BB ratio (60 innings) into Thursday’s matchup against the Cardinals in St. Louis.
