Castro left a game on April 16th with an oblique injury and has not appeared in a game since. The Twins have not put him on the IL, which suggests that he could be returning any day now, but he’ll now miss his sixth straight game. In that time, Edouard Julien has cemented himself as the starting second baseman, and Brooks Lee has been filling in at third base. If Castro does return soon, that would likely mean that Lee would head to the bench.

Andruw Monasterio is playing third base. It’s just the second time Durbin has sat since he was called up Apr. 18. Still, his starting job hardly seems secure at this point, as he’s hit just .194/.280/.278 with one homer and one steal in 83 plate appearances.

Montero will pitch tonight in what would have been Casey Mize’s turn, but he’s going to work behind opener Tyler Holton against the Red Sox. Montero has a 4.15 ERA in four starts for the Tigers this season.

Lee heads back to Triple-A after throwing 2 2/3 scoreless innings in two appearances. He has a 1.00 ERA in nine innings for the Tigers overall this season.

A tough break for Drohan, who had overcome a lost 2024 to open this season with a 2.03 ERA and a 38/11 K/BB in 26 2/3 innings for Worcester. He was in the mix for a callup.

Austin McNamara and Kai Kroeger will compete for the Jets punter job this year. The 39-year-old former Saint was the league’s oldest punter last season. If he wants to keep punting, he can absolutely join the tryout circuit or a competition elsewhere. But this is probably a sign that the Morstead’s 16-year career is close to an end at this point.
