Nolan Gorman delivered a go-ahead three-run double in the eighth inning on Tuesday night, propelling the Cardinals to a 10-4 victory over the Braves.

Gorman wasn’t even in the Cardinals’ original starting lineup on Tuesday, he was a late addition after Brendan Donovan was scratched due to soreness in his ribs. He made the most of the opportunity though, breaking a 4-4 tie in the eighth inning with his three-run double to right off of Enyel De Los Santos. That would be his lone hit in five at-bats on the evening. For the season, the 24-year-old slugger is now hitting .250/.317/.444 with one home run and seven RBI through his first 41 plate appearances.

Brandon Woodruff (shoulder, ankle) will throw a bullpen Sunday.

If that bullpen goes well, Woodruff will restart his rehab assignment. The 32-year-old looked to be on the precipice of returning to the Milwaukee rotation before undergoing treatment for right ankle tendonitis. He’ll likely need to make a couple of rehab outings before possibly making his season debut in June.

Pirates activated INF Spencer Horwitz off the 10-day injured list

Horwitz will get a chance to make his season debut after missing the first six-plus weeks of the season. The 27-year-old should see regular playing time at first base, but doesn’t offer enough fantasy upside to suggest he’s worthy of a roster spot in mixed leagues.

Pirates optioned INF/OF Matt Gorski to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Gorski will head back to Triple-A after slashing .195/.214/.390 with a pair of homers in his limited action with Pittsburgh. He’ll get regular playing time in the minors with Spencer Horwitz activated off the injured list to take Gorski’s place on the roster.

Francisco Lindor plated pinch-runner Luisangel Acuña with a sac fly in the top of the ninth as the Mets edged the Yankees 3-2 on Saturday.

It was otherwise another quiet day at the plate for Lindor, who went 0-for-3 with a walk and no hard-hit balls. He’s 1-for-15 in his last four games after a big week last week against the Diamondbacks and Cubs. The Mets won today despite being outhit 8-6 and outhomered 2-0.

Griffin Canning yielded two runs in 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision Saturday against the Yankees.

Both runs scored on homers. The first was a true Yankee Stadium shot, traveling 333 feet to right. The second was a 432-footer from Cody Bellinger in which the ballpark didn’t really matter. It’s the eighth time in nine starts that Canning has allowed two runs or fewer. He’s completed six innings just twice, so he’s not working deep into games. He’s been big for the Mets, though, and he continues to be worth playing in mixed leagues most weeks. He will be a weaker option next time through, as he’s due to face the Dodgers on Friday.

Edwin Díaz recorded his 10th save with a perfect ninth in a one-run game against the Yankees on Saturday.

He truly earned it in striking out Austin Wells and Aaron Judge, with a soft Ben Rice lineout also mixed in. It’s Díaz’s seventh straight scoreless appearance.
