Robert Suarez pitched a perfect ninth versus the Tigers for his MLB-high 10th save on Tuesday.
Suarez has been automatic in allowing just three hits over 11 scoreless innings to date. The Padres are probably glad no one stepped up with much of an offer when they were willing to trade him to free up payroll space in the offseason.
Ty France went 1-for-4 with an RBI single against the Brewers on Friday.
France began Thursday’s game on the bench after fouling a ball off the inside of his foot and leaving the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Orioles. France ended up entering Thursday’s game when Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa collided and Correa was removed from the game. France was back in the starting lineup Friday and continues to have some value in deeper formats.
Cole Sands tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Brewers on Friday.
