Vargas has a 26% strikeout rate, which is worse than his career mark of 22%, even though his contact numbers are a little better than usual. He also has a 41% hard-hit rate, which is a little above average overall and far better than his career mark of 30%. Still, he’s slugging .203. Since he’s out of options, the White Sox figure to stick with him for now. Their patience might eventually run out, though. After all, he hit just .104/.217/.170 in 157 PA after arriving from the Dodgers last summer.
