Fernando Tatis Jr. went 2-for-4 with a homer, triple and three runs scored on Sunday night, powering the Padres to a 3-2 victory over the Astros in Houston.

The dynamic 26-year-old superstar led off the game with a walk, advanced on a sacrifice bunt and ultimately came around to score the game’s first run on a fielder’s choice. He then tripled off of Framber Valdez in the third inning and scored on an RBI knock off the bat of Gavin Sheets. Tatis then crushed a go-ahead 427-foot (108.7 mph EV) on the first pitch that he saw from Tayler Scott in the seventh. He has been a five-category monster to begin the 2025 season, slashing .358/.436/.691 with eight homers, 16 RBI and seven stolen bases.

Matthew Judon said he “probably” won’t return to the Falcons in 2025.

The Falcons, of course, drafted both Jalon Walker and James Pearce in the first round. In an exclusive interview with CardPlayer.com — not to be confused with our PokerNews.com James Cook scoop a few days ago — Judon said that his sack total was down because “I dropped (into coverage) on 60 percent of the plays. It’s hard to get a pick and a sack on the same play.” Judon also told Kyle Odegard that “a couple” teams had expressed interest in him but he was in no rush to sign.

Jason Foley underwent season-ending shoulder surgery.

Foley failed to make Detroit’s season-opening roster after notching a career-best 28 saves last year and hasn’t pitched in the big leagues this season. It’s a hit to the Tigers’ relief depth that he won’t be an option, even in a lower-leverage role. The 29-year-old former closer is facing a lengthy absence.

Blue Jays RHP prospect Jake Bloss will undergo surgery on the UCL in his right elbow.

It figures to be a season-ending procedure for Bloss, who hit the minor league injured list earlier this month with a right elbow issue. It’s unclear whether it’ll be a traditional Tommy John operation or an internal brace procedure. The 23-year-old pitching prospect came over last July at the trade deadline as part of the Yusei Kikuchi trade with the Astros. There should be an exact return timetable following the surgical procedure.

Rays recalled INF/OF Coco Montes from Triple-A Durham.

Montes returns to the majors ahead of Tuesday’s series opener against the Blue Jays with Yandy Díaz heading to the restricted list. The 28-year-old, who has gotten into five games this season at the highest level, figures to occupy a spot on the Rays’ bench for now.

Rays placed 1B Yandy Díaz on the restricted list.

No word yet on the reason for the move. The 33-year-old on-base machine is hitting .238/.291/.400 with six homers, 20 RBI and two steals this season through 40 games. There should be some clarity on his status shortly.

Colt Keith is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Red Sox.

It’ll be Kerry Carpenter at DH and Spencer Torkelson at the cold corner on Tuesday night at Comerica Park. The 23-year-old has caught fire over the last few days, hitting .300 (6-for-20) with one homer and four RBI over his last seven games.
