The Angels entered the ninth inning trailing 4-1, but they got things going as Mike Trout worked a walk, Jorge Soler singled, Logan O’Hoppe drew a walk and Zach Neto was hit by a pitch. Adell then followed with a three-run double down the line in left field that send the Angels’ home faithful into a frenzy. The 26-year-old outfielder finished the day 1-for-4 and is now hitting .224/.274/.379 on the season with two homers and 12 RBI.

Call this a surprise. The Dodgers are adding top prospect Dalton Rushing to the roster, and they’ll move on from their long-time backup backstop in Barnes to make room on the roster. The 35-year-old will likely see interest on the waiver wire, but it’s not hard to imagine him staying in the organization as depth if he does go unclaimed. Will Smith will receive the bulk of starts behind the plate, but this clears a spot for Rushing to make a start or two behind the plate while also playing in the outfield.

Valdez is now off the 40-man roster, and the Pirates used that room to claim Michael Helman off waivers from the Cardinals. Valdez has a left shoulder impingement and now won’t be eligible to rejoin Pittsburgh until the early portion of July.

Helman was designated for assignment and now has a new home in the Pittsburgh organization. The 28-year-old will be organizational depth for the Pirates.

Rushing is viewed as the top prospect in the Dodgers’ system, and one of the top prospects in all of baseball regardless of organization. He’s forged a .933 OPS with Triple-A Oklahoma City, and while his primary position is catcher, he’s also played first base and left field. Rushing should get a chance to play now that he’s with the big-league club, and his catcher-eligibility makes him someone fantasy managers should absolutely consider rostering if they need help behind the plate.

The Giants are loading up on right-handed hitters against southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez, so Yastrzemski will get a breather. Heliot Ramos is leading off, and Luis Matos will take Yastrzemski’s place in the lineup in left field.

France will likely sit the second game of the twin-billing as well. The 30-year-old first baseman’s status should be updated before Thursday, but for now Minnesota has replaced France with Kody Clemens now handling first base duties.
