It’s definitely the best-case scenario after Treinen hit the shelf earlier this weekend with right forearm tightness. The 36-year-old high-leverage reliever remains without a definitive return timetable, and is likely facing a multi-week absence, but he’s certainly not done for the year. He’s on the rest and rehabilitation path for now.

Lauer tossed 4 2/3 scoreless innings last Sunday against the Mariners to pick up a win in relief. The 29-year-old lefty doesn’t possess an overpowering arsenal, but he’s done a phenomenal job this season a long relief role. He’ll make a traditional start on Saturday against a red-hot Tigers’ lineup, which makes it challenging to recommend him for streaming purposes outside of extremely deep mixed leagues and AL-only formats.

Baty draws his first start at the hot corner since Monday’s contest against the Pirates. The 25-year-old has started six of New York’s last 11 games since being recalled from Triple-A Syracuse back on May 5. He’s hitting .300 (6-for-20) with four homers in eight games during that span. It’ll take some lineup gymnastics from manager Carlos Mendoza, but there’s a strong case for figuring out a way to keep both Baty and Mark Vientos in the everyday lineup between third base and designated hitter.

Castillo was claimed off waivers earlier this week from the Diamondbacks after compiling a calamitous 11.37 ERA over five appearances this season at the big-league level. The 29-year-old southpaw provides the Mets with some badly-needed left-handed relief depth.

Núñez returns to the minors after struggling to a bloated 7.36 ERA with a 3/6 K/BB ratio across 3 2/3 innings (five appearances) after being recalled earlier this month from Triple-A. The hard-throwing 28-year-old righty is extremely talented and figures to return at some point in a few weeks.

Mauricio’s rehab assignment is officially over, but he’s going to remain at Triple-A Syracuse to continue getting back up to speed following an extended layoff recovering from surgery back in December, 2023 to repair a torn ACL in his right knee. The 24-year-old former top prospect should get an opportunity to contribute in the majors at some point in the second half, but he’s still working his way back to where he was prior to undergoing multiple knee operations.

Grisham, who has homered three times in his last seven games, takes a seat with Cody Bellinger in center field and Paul Goldschmidt at first base to face Mets starter Griffin Canning during Saturday afternoon’s matinee. It’ll be slugger Ben Rice bumping up to the leadoff spot in his absence.
