MacKenzie Gore allowed two runs with 13 strikeouts over six innings in a win over the Rockies on Saturday.
Gore tossed a scoreless first inning before serving up a two-run homer to Mickey Moniak in the second. He then settled in nicely, tossing four more scoreless innings. The 26-year-old right-hander struck out 13 batters on the day on a whopping 28 whiffs. It was his second 13-strikeout performance on the season. Gore will take a 3.41 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and a 45/8 K/BB ratio across 29 innings into a home start against the Orioles on Thursday.
Heliot Ramos went 3-for-4 in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Monday.
Ramos was one of the few hitters who had any offensive success against Merrill Kelly in a game where the GIants were held to just one run by Kelly and the D-Backs’ bullpen. The three knocks ups his average to .290, and he’s been on fire in the month of May with a .400/.472/,800 slash over his 30 at-bats in that timeframe.
