Rays selected the contract of OF Chandler Simpson from Triple-A Durham.
The 24-year-old speedster was slashing .301/.325/.329 with zero homers, eight RBI and eight stolen bases (in 11 attempts) through his first 17 games at Triple-A Durham. Rays’ skipper Kevin Cash told reporters after the move was announced, “I think, in theory, he adds an element to any lineup with how fast he is, his contact ability. I think he’s going to get an opportunity here and a little bit of a runway.” Simpson’s game-changing speed makes him an immediate impact addition in all roto leagues.
