Mariners recalled RHP Emerson Hancock from Triple-A Tacoma.
The move was announced on Wednesday night, but now it’s official. Hancock will start against the Reds on Thursday, but is not a recommended streaming option after he gave up six runs in 2/3 of an innings in his only start of the season.
Angel Martínez is starting at second base for the Guardians and batting eighth on Wednesday against the Brewers.
Martínez had started five of the last six games in center field, but the Guardians will play Nolan Jones there on Wednesday with Jhonkensy Noel in right field. Martínez has hit well enough to remain in the lineup, so Daniel Schneeman will shift to third base and Jose Ramirez will DH on Wednesday.
Alec Burleson is on the bench for the Cardinals for Game 1 of a doubleheader against the Phillies on Wednesday.
The Phillies will start Jesus Luzardo in Game 1, so Burleson will take a seat with Ivan Herrera starting at DH and Pedro Pages catching. With Aaron Nola on the mound in Game 2, Burleson should play the second game of the doubleheader with Pages on the bench.
Brandon Marsh is playing center field and batting eighth for the Phillies in Game 1 of a doubleheader against the Cardinals on Wednesday.
Marsh had sat out the last two games despite only one of them being against a left-handed pitcher. He’ll be back in the order on Wednesday, although it remains to be seen if he’ll start both games despite the Cardinals starting two right-handed pitchers.
DL Hall (lat) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Nashville.
The 26-year-old was tremendous as a reliever for the Orioles in 2023 when he was coming back from injury, and the Brewers have said he will shift into that role for the short term as he returns from his lat injury. If the Brewers were to fall out of contention, they could easily stretch him out as a starter again, but a move to the bullpen will allow Hall to help the MLB team sooner.
Brewers optioned LHP Bryan Hudson to Triple-A Nashville.
The Brewers needed a roster spot for Logan Henderson, who is starting on Wednesday, so Hudson was sent back to the minors. He could be called back up when the Brewers need another bullpen arm.
Brewers recalled RHP Logan Henderson from Triple-A Nashville
This move was rumored earlier in the week and is now official. It looks like just a spot start for Henderson unless Jose Quintana’s biceps/shoulder becomes a bigger issue. Henderson looked good in his lone MLB start this season, but he is a risky streaming option against a solid Guardians team.
