The Mariners are bringing Taylor back to the majors even though he allowed six runs over 3 1/3 innings of relief work on his rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma. It might be a short stay, since the team will need a fifth starter on Saturday, and the decision on who gets to remain with the team will probably come down to him and Casey Legumina. Taylor, who had been out with a strained lat, is very much part of the Mariners’ plans going forward, but he doesn’t seem to be quite at his best right now.

It was a rough night overall for Brunson, but he still came up big when the game mattered most. He scored the final six points for the Knicks, which included the bucket that finally gave them the lead. The series will now shift to New York with the Knicks leading 2-0. Brunson’s subpar night didn’t cost them on Wednesday, but he’ll need to be much better in Game 3 if they want to defend homecourt on Saturday.

Cannon only struck out one batter, but he was a Bobby Witt Jr. homer away from exiting the start unscatched. He has given up nine hits in back-to-back starts and still has been able to give up just four runs in those outings. Cannon has also been able to get deep into games with four consecutive outings of at least six innings, and he’ll look to make it five straight next week against the Reds.

Just one of the three hits that Wacha allowed went for extra bases. The right-hander worked seven innings for the first time in 2025, but it makes back-to-back outings he was able to pitch into that frame. It also makes the second time in three outings that Wacha hasn’t allowed a run, and his ERA lowered to 2.98 in the process. He’ll get the Astros next week.
