After fouling out and striking out in his two at-bats against Freddy Peralta, Veen dropped down a beautiful bunt single against Abner Uribe in the sixth inning to log his first career hit. The 23-year-old top prospect started in right field and batted seventh for the Rockies on Tuesday and is expected to see everyday action in a corner outfield spot. His dynamic blend of power and speed make him a worthwhile target in all leagues where he may still be available.

A 2022 fifth-round pick of the Colts, Johnson spent two years in Indy before last year’s sojourn in Boston. Waived at final cuts last summer, Johnson was claimed by the Pats. He’s been a steady special teamer and rotational depth piece up front. Johnson’s Colts experience greatly enhances his 53-man roster odds, but his spot will be far from a given. He turns 27 in July.

Achiuwa has played a total of 15 minutes in this series, so it’s unclear when he injured his ankle. Head coach Tom Thibodeau has solely relied on Karl-Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson at center, so Achiuwa’s status won’t impact New York’s rotation.

It’s the second straight game that the 22-year-old outfielder has found himself on the bench. He’s slashing a disappointing .214/.313/.347 with three homers, 11 RBI and a 34/12 K/BB ratio over his first 112 plate appearances in the big leagues. If he’s unable to find his way back into the starting lineup on a regular basis, perhaps the Astros would be better served sending him back to Triple-A Sugar Land to get him back on track. Zach Dezenzo will start in right field and bat seventh against Jacob deGrom and the Rangers on Thursday evening in Arlington.

The 24-year-old southpaw is expected to work bulk innings of the Dodgers’ bullpen during Thursday’s contest against the Athletics. Wrobleski was clobbered in his lone start with the Dodgers this season, giving up eight runs on eight hits over his five frames.

The 32-year-old hurler was with the big league club for just two days this time around to add a fresh arm to the bullpen. He has posted a miserable 11.25 ERA, 3.00 WHIP and a 4/1 K/BB ratio over four innings at the major league level this season. Justin Wrobleski was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move on Thursday.

The 22-year-old hurler spent the previous three seasons in the Royals’ organization before pitching for Leones de Yucatan in the Mexican League this year. There he appeared in just three games — posting a 3.60 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and a 4/1 K/BB ratio over five innings — but it appears to have been enough to catch the eye of the Diamondbacks. He’ll add minor league bullpen depth.
