Francisco Lindor went 3-for-4 with a run scored on Monday, leading the Mets to a 2-0 victory over the Marlins.
Lindor’s three-hit performance on Monday evening pushed him past the lofty 1,500-hit milestone for his career. He scored the lone run of the contest for either side until New York pushed another run across with two outs in the eighth inning when he raced around the bases on Juan Soto’s third-inning double into the left-center field gap against Marlins starter Valente Bellozo. He’s batting .242 (8-for-33) with two steals through nine games.
Amed Rosario (leg) remains out of the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Orioles.
Rosario received stitches earlier this week after an off-field incident where he cut his leg on a table at the team’s hotel. The 29-year-old infielder is likely to be ready to return in a couple days.
Josh Lowe is in right field and leading off on Saturday against the Marlins.
Lowe finds himself back in the leadoff spot for the second time in three games since returning from the injured list earlier this week following a seven-week absence due to an oblique strain. The 27-year-old fantasy standout has gone 4-for-9 with one homer and two RBI in a pair of games since rejoining Tampa Bay’s lineup on Thursday afternoon. His arrival pushes rookie speedster Chandler Simpson to the bottom of the order until further notice. He should be rostered in all fantasy formats at this juncture.
Yandy Díaz is at DH and batting third on Saturday against the Marlins.
Díaz has gone 1-for-4 with an RBI on Friday out of the leadoff spot in his return to the lineup after missing Tampa Bay’s entire three-game series earlier this week against the Blue Jays due to passport issues. The 33-year-old veteran is hitting .238/.291/.396 with six homers, 21 RBI and two steals through 41 games.
Agustin Ramírez is not in the lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Rays.
Ramírez takes a seat after starting nine consecutive games for Miami between catcher and DH since May 6. The 23-year-old rookie backstop has gotten off to a nice start in his first opportunity at the highest level, batting .264/.322/.575 with five homers, 11 RBI and one steal through 21 games. It’ll be veteran Nick Fortes handling the catching duties on Saturday evening with Liam Hicks getting a turn at DH.
Xavier Edwards (back) remains out of the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Rays.
Edwards will sit out his second consecutive contest after being scratched from Friday’s lineup with back tightness. Fantasy managers are well aware that back issues can be complicated matters, but it doesn’t sound like a serious concern at the moment. The 25-year-old speedster has compiled 11 steals through 42 games, but his .263 batting average qualifies as a slight disappointment relative to expectations. It’ll be rookie Javier Sanoja filling in at shortstop on Saturday evening in his place.
Nationals released C Andrew Knizner.
Knizner had an opt-out in his minor league contract with the club and has been cut loose to pursue an opportunity elsewhere. The 30-year-old backstop has been one of the more impressive hitters in the International League this season, batting .382/.516/.500 with one homer and 11 RBI through 23 games for Triple-A Rochester. He should be able to latch on somewhere else as extra organizational catching depth.
