Brady Singer won despite allowing five runs — three earned — in five innings Saturday against the Brewers.
Singer had quite a cushion, with the Reds taking a 7-0 lead in the fourth. He went on to allow one run in the bottom of that inning and then four before finally closing out the fifth. Singer struck out seven and walked one in improving to 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA. He’ll be a solid play against the Pirates next week.
Max Muncy went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI on Thursday as the Dodgers demolished the visiting Athletics.
After hitting just one home run in his first 154 plate appearances on the season, Muncy launched a three-run homer in his final at-bat on Wednesday and followed it by crushing a 408-foot two-run shot off of Osvaldo Bido in his first trip to the dish on Thursday. He also added an RBI single in the second inning and a sacrifice fly in the eighth that capped the scoring in the ballgame. With his three-hit attack, the 34-year-old slugger is now hitting .207/.323/.341 with three long balls and 16 RBI.
Justin Wrobleski picked up his first big league victory of the 2025 season on Thursday, firing four innings of shutout baseball against the Athletics.
Wrobleski came on in the sixth inning with the Dodgers leading 15-2 and all he needed to do was keep the train on the tracks to earn a victory in this one. He did much better than that, allowing just one hit while striking out four batters over his four scoreless frames. It looks like Landon Knack has the leg up on the open spot in the team’s starting rotation, so expect Wrobleski to head back to Triple-A Oklahoma City soon.
Max Schuemann went 1-for-2 and belted his first home run of the 2025 campaign as the Athletics were clobbered by the Dodgers on Thursday evening in Los Angeles.
The 27-year-old infielder victimized Matt Sauer for a 424-foot (105.7 mph EV) solo shot in the second inning, pulling the Athletics to within a run at 3-2. That would wind up being the extent of their offense while the Dodgers would tack on another 16 runs. Schuemann also worked a walk in the ballgame, reaching base safely in two of his three plate appearances. On the season, he’s now slashing .250/.308/.444 with one RBI in his first 39 plate appearances.
Osvaldo Bido was absolutely obliterated in Thursday night’s loss to the Dodgers, getting torched for six runs on five hits in just 1 2/3 innings of work.
Bido also issued a pair of free passes in the abbreviated outing while recording two of his five total outs via the strikeout. The Dodgers jumped on him right out of the gate in this one, putting up three runs in the opening inning — including a two-run blast off the bat of Max Muncy. The Dodgers pushed three more across while chasing him from the game the following frame. Bido got just four whiffs on 49 pitches on the night, registering a brutal CSW of only 16 percent. He’ll carry a miserable 5.82 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and a 29/18 K/BB ratio (43 1/3 innings) into Tuesday’s matchup against the Angels.
Jamal Murray lit up the Thunder with 25 points (9-of-19 FGs), eight rebounds, seven assists, one block, two three-pointers and five turnovers in Game 6 on Thursday.
Murray was a late addition to the injury report with an illness, but he played through it, and it didn’t prevent him from having a big night. He scored 11 points in the first quarter and had nine points in the decisive third quarter to help Denver keep its season alive. Murray has been able to step up in big moments in the playoffs throughout his career, and they’ll need another big game from him in Game 7 on Sunday to advance to the conference finals.
Nikola Jokic led the Nuggets with 29 points (9-of-14 FGs, 10-of-12 FTs), 14 rebounds, eight assists, two steals, one block and one three-pointers in a 119-107 win over the Thunder in Game 6 on Thursday.
Unsurprisingly, Jokic was dominant to help keep Denver’s season alive. His 44-point effort in Game 5 wasn’t enough, and while he didn’t match that scoring total in this game, he was still able to have a big night. He also finally got past the six-assist mark, which he had done three times this series without surpassing it. That means that Jokic finally got some help from his teammates. Game 7 will be on Sunday in OKC. Expect Jokic to have a monster performance.
