Scottie Barnes (hip) is out for Wednesday’s game against the Pacers.
A late addition to the injury report, Barnes will not play in the second game of Toronto’s back-to-back. Gradey Dick, who is already a starter, may see his usage increase, while Ochai Agbaji and Ja’Kobe Walter should play more minutes. One of those two is likely to move into the starting lineup.
Taylor Ward hit a solo homer in a loss Wednesday to the Padres.
Manny Machado went 2-for-2 and scored twice in a victory Wednesday over the Angels.
Xander Bogaerts hit a three-run homer while helping the Padres to a 5-1 win over the Angels on Wednesday.
Kyle Hendricks went six innings and allowed three runs while taking a loss to the Padres on Wednesday.
Randy Vasquez held the Angels to one run over six innings with five strikeouts in a win for the Padres on Wednesday.
Matt Gorski went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a 4-0 win on Wednesday over the Mets.
Both the Pirates and Mets did little offensively in this one, with Gorski and his teammate Jared Triolo providing all of the combined run production from both sides with a pair of two-run shots. Gorski’s homer was crushed though. It travelled an estimated 407 feet through a brief downpour of rain on a hanging sweeper from Clay Holmes. He’s now started six of the Pirates last eight games at first base and while he doesn’t have much pedigree, he does both 80th percentile bat speed and sprint speed. That makes him worth a look in the deepest of leagues.
