Towns was initially questionable for Friday’s game but warmed up with the intention of playing. He’s been officially cleared and will occupy his usual place in the starting lineup. Towns went off for 44 points in Wednesday’s win over the Heat.

The Diamondbacks want to see the 23-year-old hurler in live game action at least once or twice before he’s deemed ready to return to their bullpen. If all goes according to plan, it sounds like Martinez could be back in the bullpen mix at some point next week.

The 30-year-old shortstop was scratched from Wednesday’s lineup due to soreness in his shoulder but it appears to have been only a minor issue. He’s in his rightful place atop the M’s lineup for Friday’s tilt against Stephen Kolek and the Padres.

Fitzgerald makes his triumphant return to the Giants lineup on Friday after missing a couple of weeks with a fractured rib. He’ll start at second base and bat ninth against JP Sears and the Athletics on Friday evening in San Francisco.

Wisely, 26, went 0-for-10 with three strikeouts in sporadic playing time with the Giants. He’ll return to an everyday role at Triple-A Sacramento. Tyler Fitzgerald was activated from the injured list in a corresponding move on Friday.

It’s the first chance that Loutos has gotten with the Dodgers since being acquired from the Cardinals at the beginning of May. The 26-year-old right-hander holds a 2.38 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 8/3 K/BB ratio over 11 1/3 innings at the Triple-A level this season.

The 24-year-old left-hander earned a victory over the Athletics on Thursday with four scoreless innings out of the Dodgers’ bullpen, but he wasn’t going to be available for the next few days so they’ll swap him out for a fresh arm. He’ll be an option once again the next time the Dodgers need a spot starter or length in their bullpen.
