Considered by some to be a snub at this year’s NFL Scouting Combine, Sanders (6’2/220) fell off everyone’s radar after he transferred to Ole Miss for the 2023 season. A four-year starter at Oklahoma State (2019-2022), Sanders opted to challenge Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart for the Rebels’ starting quarterback job last year and wound up attempting 29 passes on the year over zero starts. Sanders threw for 9553-67-40 in 43 games with Oklahoma State and rushed for 1,956 yards and 18 scores. In two seasons, he threw for double-digit interceptions and also put the ball on the turf 23 times in his career. His body of work is fine but won’t blow anyone away, and his backup role last season didn’t do him any favors. It’s unlikely Sanders will be anything more than a camp body this offseason.

It’ll be the fourth consecutive game that Burger has started since returning from Triple-A Round Rock. The 29-year-old slugger has hit safely in each of the first three contests upon his return, going 3-for-9 (.333) with a double, two RBI and a 3/2 K/BB ratio. If he’s still hanging around on the waiver wire in deeper leagues, he makes for a worthwhile addition.

Darvish struck out four and walked one on the day. He sat 94.5 mph on his four-seam fastball and got a few whiffs on his slider and cutter, which both looked good. He had 10 whiffs overall and threw 51 pitches in the outing. He should push over 60 pitches in his next rehab start, which will come early next week. He will probably need two or three more outings before rejoining the Padres rotation. He was really good when healthy last season, so now might be a good time to stash him on your IL.

Murray is a late addition to the injury report with an illness ahead of Thursday’s Game 6. With the Nuggets facing elimination, it seems likely that Murray will play through the illness. If not the Nuggets would be forced to rely more heavily on Russell Westbrook and Payton Watson.

Lewis singled in a run in the seventh to extend the Twins’ lead to 4-0. It’s just the second multi-hit game for Lewis since returning from the injured list, but both have come in the last four games. Expect to see the former first-overall pick drastically improve his .148/207/.148 slash in the coming weeks/days.

Keirsey hit his first homer of the season and the second of his big-league career with a two-run shot off Tomoyuki Sugano. The 28-year-old still is hitting just .103 with a .179 slugging percentage, so fantasy managers shouldn’t expect many more roundtrippers from Keirsey in 2025.

The long ball did Sugano in — relatively speaking — as he gave up a two-run homer to Dashawn Keirsey Jr. and a solo blast to Byron Buxton in the third inning. Outside of that it was mostly smooth sailing for Sugano as he allowed just two more hits with one walk and three strikeouts until giving up a run in the seventh. The 35-year-old rookie will face the Brewers next week and take a strong 2.91 ERA into that outing even after giving up the four-spot against the Twins.
