Raanta was pulled after giving up three goals on only 13 shots just 3:24 into the second period, leaving the net for Kochetkov. It was the second time in the playoffs that Kochetkov came on in relief with much better results the first time as he made 30 saves in a Game 3 5-2 win over Boston in the opening round after Raanta was injured. Kochetkov was a nice story in Game 2, as he entered the game in relief of an injured Antti Raanta. Things were different tonight. The Bruins won this game thanks to four consecutive goals throughout three periods and because of their special teams (two power play goals and a shorthanded tally). Carolina still leads this series, 2-1, but they'll need to play one more game in Boston on Sunday before returning home.
Pyotr Kochetkov will be in the crease for Game 3 against Boston on Friday night.
Kochetkov stopped 30 of 32 shots in relief in Game 2 on Wednesday in a 5-2 win over the Bruins after Antti Raanta left the game with an upper-body injury. He will get his first start in the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Friday and Raanta will be the understudy because he is still a bit nicked up.
