Player News
Arvid Soderblom has been assigned to Rockford of the AHL.
Kevin Lankinen (hand) has been activated from injured reserve, so Soderblom will head to the minors.
Coach Derek King suggested that nerves could be playing a part in Arvid Soderblom's struggles.
Soderblom allowed six goals on 36 shots in a 7-4 loss to Columbus Thursday night. With that, he's started his career with a 0-2-0 record, 5.01 GAA, and .863 save percentage in three contests. The Blackhawks haven't done him any favors though with their play in front of him. "I’m sure the kid’s nervous," King said. "He’s a young kid, he’s a good goalie. He’s going to be a really good goalie for us. But still, it's nerves. His parents are in town and then what do we do? We don’t start the game on time for him and gave up way too many chances. Guys that were getting the chances are good hockey players."
Arvid Soderblom allowed six goals on 36 shots in Thursday's 7-4 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Soderblom was put into a tough spot against a hungry Blue Jackets team. However the 22-year-old will bear a lot of the responsibility of the loss as he finished the night with a poor .833 save percentage. Soderblom owns a 0-2-0 record with a 5.01 goals-against average and .863 save percentage.
Arvid Soderblom will start Thursday against Columbus.
Soderblom will get the first half of Chicago's back-to-back situation and Marc-Andre Fleury will play on Friday versus Dallas. This will be Soderblolm's third appearance of the year with the Blackhawks and his second career NHL start. He has a 0-1-0 record with a 4.23 GAA and .881 SV% in his previous two appearances.
