Tyson Foerster injured his shoulder in AHL action and could be out for up to five months.
Foerster was selected 23rd overall in 2020 and had a pair of goals and an assist in nine games with Lehigh Valley of the AHL. This will really put a damper on his career.
Tyson Foerster scored twice Friday in Lehigh Valley's 4-2 win.
It was the third time in the last five games that Foerster that Foerster has scored twice in a game. He started the season with only one assist in his first five games but has eight goals and 12 points in 10 games since then. Foerster was taken with the 23rd pick in the 2020 Draft and has a bright NHL future ahead of him.
Tyson Foerster stays fit in part by working for his grandparents at their sheep farm.
Foerster stacks 500 to 1,000 bales of hay for his grandparents on a daily basis and given that each bale weighs around 50 pounds, that a lot of hard labor. “It’s not the easiest job, but I think it’s worth it,” Foerster said. “I like helping my grandparents out and I’m also getting a bit of a workout.” It's not just stacking hay though. He also helps take care of the animals, cleans stalls, works the fields, and does various other tasks as well. The Philadelphia Flyers took him with the 23rd overall pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. He scored 36 goals and 80 points in 62 OHL contests last season. One of the main knocks against him has been his skating, but he's been working to address that over the long offseason and his work has paid dividends, according to Paul Matheson, who is his skating coach with OHL Barrie.
Tyson Foerster has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Flyers selected Foerster in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft. "Tyson obviously has a lot of offensive gifts. He can shoot the puck tremendously well. Goal scorer. Playmaker. Great hockey sense. Really good size. He's got a lot of attributes," said Philadelphia GM Chuck Fletcher after Day 1 of the Draft. "I think the good thing about Tyson was very good with self-awareness, of his strengths and the areas that he needs to improve. He's worked very hard on those areas during the pause. We expect he'll continue to develop into a pretty good player." Foerster registered 36 goals and 80 points for the OHL's Barrie Colts in 62 games last season.
