Lucas Raymond fell shy of the top-three in Calder Trophy voting.
Raymond had a superb rookie season with 23 goals and 57 points in 82 contests in 2021-22. There was some thought that he'd be a finalist for the award, but ultimately the nominees were Michael Bunting, Trevor Zegras, and Raymond's teammate, Moritz Seider. Seider is the favorite to win the award.
Lucas Raymond has confirmed that he will play for Sweden at the upcoming World Hockey Championships.
Raymond confirmed this to the Swedish outlet Aftonbladet. “Of course it would be a lot of fun to play the World Cup, it’s something I grew up watching,” Raymond is quoted as saying by Aftonbladet. “It’s something I’ve been dreaming about since I was a kid. To be able to represent Sweden is always an honor. It’s sad that we did not make it to the playoffs, but it opens up opportunities with that.” Raymond has 23 goals and 56 points this season and should be a Calder finalist.

Raymond has only been held off the scoresheet once in his last four games. He has 22 goals and 55 points in 73 contests in 2021-22.

Raymond is not only a favorite for the Calder trophy this season but is already one of Detroit's best players. The 20-year-old forward now leads all rookies in points with 22 goals and 52 points in 68 games this season. The Swedish forward is a future star.
