Seider had seven goals and 50 points in 82 contests this season. Since the start of the salary cap era, he's just the third defenseman to reach the 50-point milestone in his rookie season after Quinn Hughes and Cale Makar. Seider also had 151 hits and 161 blocks while averaging 23:03 minutes. Seider had 1853 points in the voting. Trevor Zegras finished in second place with 1,191 points while Michael Bunting rounded out the top three with 877 points.

Seider was outstanding as a rookie, leading all first year players in ice time at 23:09 per game, power play points with 21 and assists with 43. “I think Mo earned a ton of respect around the league, not only from his teammates but from opponents,” Sam Gagner said. “Just the way he played, the way he carried himself. You look back to the first game of the year against Tampa and he was already kind of commanding that respect, not afraid of the moment. He just continued to grow. It’s a long year when you haven’t played in the NHL before. There’s a lot of ups and downs. Specifically with our season, with the struggles we went through in the second half, it makes it feel even longer, and Mo just kept playing, kept improving. He really did it all for us. From an off-ice perspective, he’s already become a leader for us. He understands the leadership aspect and isn’t afraid to be himself. I think the sky’s the limit for him.”

Seider is the favorite for the Calder Trophy and showed why with an outstanding effort against Team Canada. Seider played 24:13 to lead both teams and was a plus-one on the night. Seider had seven goals and 50 points for the Red Wings and was a force on the blueline defensively. He should be a top-15 fantasy blueliner next season.
