Primeau will be Sam Montembeault's backup on Sunday against Boston. Carey Price is being given a break after a busy week for the veteran netminder following his return from offseason knee surgery. 

Primeau didn't get a chance to play during his recent NHL stint. He has a 1-7-1 with Montreal with a 4.62 goals-against average and .868 save percentage in 12 appearances with the Canadiens this season. Carey Price is ready to return on Friday, which prompted Primeau's return to the minors. 

The move was necessitated by the injury of Jake Allen Saturday against the Maple Leafs. Primeau was 1-7-1 with Montreal earlier in the season with a 4.62 GAA and a .868 save percentage. We cannot recommend him at this time for obvious reasons.

Primeau made a relief appearance against Arizona on Tuesday in his only NHL action during his latest recall. He has a 1-7-1 record with the Canadiens this season to go along with a 4.62 goals-against average and .868 save percentage in 12 games played. Montreal made the move because Jake Allen is ready to return to the lineup.
