Marcus Hogberg
Player News
Marcus Hogberg has decided to return home to Sweden and has signed a four-year contract with Linkoping HC of the SHL.
The Senators were not interested in re-signing the RFA, so this move back home comes as no surprise. Hogberg was 4-7-0 with a 3.74 GAA and a .874 save percentage in an injury-filled 2020-21 season. We wish him the best of luck in his future.
Ottawa doesn't plan on re-signing Marcus Hogberg.
Hogberg can become a restricted free agent if the Senators provided him with a qualifying offer, but it sounds like they'll allow him to become an unrestricted free agent instead. Hogberg had a 4-7-0 record, 3.74 GAA, and .876 save percentage in 14 contests this season.
Marcus Hogberg allowed three goals on 22 shots in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks.
Hogberg had some different moments early on in the season, but he's now won back-to-back games over the Canucks. The Sens gave their goalie plenty of run-support, as they jumped out to a 3-0 lead and never looked back. The 26-year-old has a 4-7-0 record with a 3.74 goals-against-average and a .876 save percentage in 2021. Even though he's playing better, Hogberg is probably still more of a depth goalie.
Marcus Hogberg is slated to play on Wednesday against Vancouver.
Coach D.J. Smith said there would be no changes to the lineup from Monday's 2-1 win over the Canucks. Hogberg stopped 25 of 26 shots in the contest for his third win of the season. He has a 3.82 goals-against average and .877 save percentage in 13 appearances this year.
