Lankinen appeared in 32 games for the Chicago Blackhawks last season. He went 8-15-6 with a 3.50 goals-against average and .891 save percentage. Lankinen is slated to be the backup goalie for Nashville next year behind workhorse Juuse Saros. 

After Lankinen surrendered a Max Pacioretty goal late in the second period, he kept the playoff-hopeful Golden Knights off the scoreboard through the third period, overtime and shootout play. Quite the effort for a netminder whose team has long been out of the postseason picture. Chicago has one game left on the docket for the season, that one set for Friday against the Sabres.

Lankinen is coming off 33-save performance in Monday's 3-1 win over Philadelphia. He has a 7-15-6 record this campaign with a 3.53 goals-against average and .890 save percentage in 31 appearances. 

Lankinen was solid in this one and the fact that teammates Erik Gustafsson and Jonathan Toews helped give him a 2-0 lead early on did him some good. The 26-year-old has won just seven games all season, but he’s been victorious in two of his last three outings. He now owns a 7-15-6 record with a 3.53 goals-against-average and a .890 save percentage this season.
