Casey Mittelstadt scored the overtime winner in the Sabres 3-2 victory over Chicago.
It was Mittelstadt who would provide legendary Buffalo announcer Rick Jeanneret his final call in his Hall-of-Fame career and it was a proud moment for Mittelstadt. He ends the season with six goals and 19 points in 40 games. Mittelstadt looks to be gaining fantasy value as a 23-year-old and could be a nice late pickup in fantasy pools next season in deeper leagues.
Casey Mittelstadt is wrapping up what has been a tough season for him.
Mittelstadt missed 42 of Buffalo's first 49 games due to injury and ultimately needed surgery. Even after returning, he's needed time to get back into the swing of things. “We’re not seeing the true Casey Mittelstadt; we’re seeing him push through the ripple effect of a long injury, and I think he’s doing a spectacular job in that,” said coach Don Granato. Don't write Mittelstadt off for 2022-23. He's still fairly young and has plenty of untapped potential.
Casey Mittelstadt earned two assists on Sunday in a 5-3 loss to Florida.
Mittelstadt had a hand in two power-play goals by Jeff Skinner and Tage Thompson during the third period. He has accounted for eight points, including seven helpers, in his past eight outings.
Casey Mittelstadt scored once and added an assist in the Sabres 5-4 win over Minnesota.
Mittelstadt has spent most of the season on the sidelines, playing seven games before Feb. 18 and seven games since returning to the lineup two weeks ago. Friday was his best of the season as he played an all-around strong game with both points coming on the power play. Mittelstadt has two goals and six points and perhaps this is the start of his showing why he was drafted eighth overall in 2017. Keep an eye on him.
