Ryan Donato has signed a one-year, $1.2 million contract with the Seattle Kraken.
Donato had 16 goals and 31 points in 74 contests last season. Those numbers aren't bad, especially when you consider that he averaged just 13:48 minutes. It'll be interesting to see if he can earn a bigger role next season.
Ryan Donato didn't receive a qualifying offer from Seattle, which makes him eligible for unrestricted free agency.
Dennis Cholowski, Haydn Fleury and Daniel Sprong will also become free agents on Wednesday after they didn't receive qualifying offers. The Kraken tendered qualifying offers to Morgan Geekie, Kole Lind, Alexander True, Carsen Twarynski and Cale Fleury.
Ryan Donato found the back of the net in a 4-3 shootout win against Montreal Saturday night.
Jared McCann and Yanni Gourde accounted for Seattle's other two regulation time goals. Marcus Johansson netted the deciding goal in the shootout. Morgan Geekie and Vince Dunn each registered an assist for the Blackhawks.
Ryan Donato will sit out of Sunday's contest against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Donato will watch this game from the press box, as he sits as a healthy scratch. Joining him there are Will Borgen and Haydn Fleury.
