Vitek Vanecek has signed a three-year, $10.2 million contract with the New Jersey Devils.
Vanecek filed for salary arbitration, but a hearing is no longer necessary. He had a 20-12-6 record, 2.67 GAA, and .908 save percentage in 42 games last season with Washington. The Capitals traded him to New Jersey earlier this month. He'll be competing with Mackenzie Blackwood for starts, but Vanecek would seem to have the edge in that battle.

The New Jersey Devils have acquired goaltender Vitek Vanecek from the Washington Capitals.
Washington will receive the 37th and 70th picks in the 2022 Draft while New Jersey will also get the 46th pick. Vanecek was 20-12-6 with a 2.67 GAA and a .908 save percentage this past season and will get a great opportunity to be the starter with the Devils as only Mackenzie Blackwood seems to be in his way.
Washington GM Brian MacLellan said the team will explore all options in the offseason, especially as it pertains to the their goaltending situation.
Vitek Vanecek and Ilya Samsonov are both pending RFAs, with arbitration rights, and MacLellan said it is possible that both of them are back for the 2022-23 season. They split starts during the 2021-22 campaign. MacLellan also said that finding a veteran goalie is a top priority for the team.
