The deal has an average annual value of $4.5 million. Lehkonen generated 19 goals and 38 points in 74 games with Montreal and Colorado last season. He was a restricted free agent after finishing a one-year, $2.3 million contract. 

The 2-1 victory for the Avalanche gave them the Cup four games to two. It was a great trade for the Avalanche that brought Lehkonen to Colorado from Montreal as the winger ended up with eight goals and 14 points in 20 games. He had four game winning goals in the 2022 Stanley Cup playoffs to lead all players.

Lehkonen gave the Avalanche a 3-1 lead at the 17:31 mark of the first period when he scored during a two-man advantage. He has provided seven goals, 12 points, 34 shots, 14 blocks and 34 hits in 15 games this postseason. Lehkonen is also tied for the league lead with three game-winning goals during the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs. 

The goal was a bit controversial as Lehkonen knocked it down with what looked to be a high stick before putting in the rebound of Mike Smith but it was eventually ruled a good goal that ended the series. Lehkonen also had a pair of assists to give him six goals and 11 points in 14 playoff games this season.
