The deal kicks in after the 2022-23 season as Sergachev still has one year remaining on his existing contract. “He has all the tools,” BriseBois said of Sergachev. “He just turned 24, he can run your power play, he can kill penalties, he’s physical, he’s big, he can skate, he’s skilled. Those guys are hard to find and now to know that he’s going to be part of our team for the next nine seasons, really that’s very comforting to us.” Sergachev had seven goals and 38 points in 78 regular season games and added two goals and eight assists in 23 Stanley Cup playoff games.

Sergachev has one season left on his three-year, $14.4 million deal before this new contract will take effect. He had seven goals and 38 points in 78 contests last season while averaging 22:28 minutes. He's a huge part of the Lightning's blueline and he'll only become more important next season given that Tampa Bay traded Ryan McDonagh to Nashville.

Sergachev is eligible to sign a contract extension with the Lightning on July 13. He still has another season left on his three-year, $13 million deal. Sergachev may get a new contract in place with Tampa Bay at some point in the coming weeks. 

Sergachev had the secondary helper on goals by Jan Rutta and Ondrej Palat. Palat supplied the game winner with just 6:22 remaining in regulation time. Sergachev has two goals and 10 points in 22 games this postseason.
