Bjorkstrand comes with a $5.4 million cap hit through 2025-26 and the Blue Jackets needed to free up space after re-signing Patrik Laine. Bjorkstrand had 28 goals and 57 points in 80 contests last season. He's a great two-way forward who will play big minutes in Seattle.

Bjorkstrand picked up primary assists on Cole Sillinger’s goal (2-1) in the second period). The Jackets forwarded then extended Columbus’ advantage to 4-1 just shy of the midway point of the final period. The 27-year-old has collected six points in his last three games. He has 27 goals and 29 assists in 79 games this season. 

Bjorkstrand struck early, beating Andrei Vasilevskiy for the score about three minutes into the contest. Columbus would be unable to provide any other offense on the evening, though, in what finished as a quiet 4-1 defeat. In 77 games played this season, Bjorkstrand has posted 26 goals and 54 points. Both the goal and point marks are the best of the 27-year-old forward's NHL career to date.

Bjorkstrand came up big for the Blue Jackets in the third period when he posted all three of his points. He scored his 25th goal of the season to kickstart a four-goal third frame for Columbus. Bjorkstrand also assisted on Nick Blankenburg's power-play game winner as well as Cole Sillinger's empty-netter. Bjorkstrad didn't have a point in 11 games going into Sunday's match.
