The Calgary Flames have acquired MacKenzie Weegar as part of the Matthew Tkachuk trade.
Weegar had eight goals and 44 points in 80 contests while averaging 23:22 minutes last seasons. He's a great defenseman, which makes the fact that he's the third best player in this deal crazy. It's worth noting though that he only has one season left on his deal and then he can become an unrestricted free agent.
MacKenzie Weegar won't play on Friday against Montreal.
Weegar also didn't play on Thursday night. The Panthers will be resting Jonathan Huberdeau, Aleksander Barkov, Claude Giroux, Sam Reinhart and Sam Bennett in addition to Weegar in Friday's regular-season finale ahead of the playoffs.
MacKenzie Weegar will sit out Thursday's game for rest.
Weegar will be joined in the press box by Jonathan Huberdeu, Aleksander Barkov, Claude Giroux, Gustav Forsling and Sergei Bobrovsky. Florida plays against Montreal on Friday in the team's final match prior to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
MacKenzie Weegar produced one goal and one assist in Sunday's 5-3 victory versus Buffalo.
Weegar assisted on Anthony Duclair's first of two goals in the match and sealed Florida's win with a power-play marker late in the third period. The 28-year-old blueliner has a personal best 38 points in 55 games this season.
