Draisaitl was injured back in the opening round of the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs in Game 6 against Los Angeles when he was taken down awkwardly by Kings blueliner Mikey Anderson. Draisaitl skipped plenty of practices afterward, but he didn't miss any games. He was clearly in pain during several plays and his mobility was hampered, but he still racked up two goals and 22 assists in 10 matches following the injury. Draisaitl compiled seven goals and 32 points in 16 games during Edmonton's playoff run, which ended in the Western Conference Final. Holland doesn't believe offseason surgery will be required for any of the team's injured players.

Draisaitl was outstanding as he was obviously playing through an injury but he was all-out Monday with a four assist effort, giving him 32 points in 16 games. The Oilers dropped the Western Conference Final in four straight games but Draisaitl was a superstar in the last two series.

That ended Draisaitl's nine-game point streak. This is just his second contest without a point in the 2022 playoffs. This was also just the second pointless game for McDavid over this postseason.

Draisaitl earned helpers on goals by Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins in the second and third periods, respectively. That Nugent-Hopkins goal drew the Oilers to within 7-6 on the scoreboard with under eight minutes to play, though they would be unable to push home a tying goal before the end of regulation. Draisaitl is coming off an NHL-record 15 assists in just five games against Calgary in the previous round of the playoffs. More of the same jazz in Game 1 of the WCF on Tuesday.
