The Anaheim Ducks have signed former New York Rangers center Ryan Strome to a five-year contract.
Strome will get $5 million per season. Strome had hoped to re-sign with the Rangers but that was not to be and ended up on the West Coast with the Ducks who inked him to a five-year deal. Strome had 21 goals and 54 points in 74 games last season with New York and should get similar numbers this season as a top-two center with Anaheim.
Ryan Strome, who is a pending unrestricted free agent, hopes to re-sign with the New York Rangers.
"Obviously, my heart is here. The last four years, I've poured my heart into this ... We'll see what happens," said Strome on Monday. "I'm getting emotional talking about it ... I want to be a New York Ranger. I've made that clear to them." He also revealed that he was dealing with an injury to his pelvis area during the playoffs that he had since the second half of the regular season. Strome will find out on Tuesday if he needs surgery. He amassed 21 goals and 54 points in 74 games during the 2021-22 campaign.
Ryan Strome (lower body) will not return to Saturday's Game 6 matchup of the Eastern Conference Final against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Strome gave it a go on Saturday, but was unable to finish out the game after aggravating a lower-body injury. He has been working his way through the issue since exiting Game 3. As of this posting, the Rangers trail the Lightning 2-1 with under 4:30 remaining in the third period as Tampa Bay tries to close out the ECF.
Ryan Strome (lower body) will not play in Saturday's Game 6 matchup with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Strome managed to play in Game 5, but it looks like the lower-body injury he sustained earlier in the Eastern Conference Finals is still bothering him. The Rangers are up against the elimination wall on Saturday after earlier taking a 2-0 series lead in the ECF.
