Backlund has finished the Flames' playoff run with five goals and eight points in 12 games. Johnny Gaudreau, Andrew Mangiapane, and Calle Jarnkrok scored Calgary's other three goals. Blake Coleman assisted on two of the Flames' four markers. Coleman also netted what could have been the game-winning goal in the third period, but the play was reviewed and in a controversial decision, the goal was called back due to a distinct kicking motion.

It was Backlund's fourth goal and sixth point in 11 games. He helped the Flames battle back from a 3-0 deficit, but ultimately Calgary still lost the contest. Rasmus Andersson and Elias Lindholm provided Calgary's other two goals. Christopher Tanev, Noah Hanifin, and Tyler Toffoli each contributed an assist for the Flames.

Backlund's third goal of the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs tied the game at 2-2 not long after the midway point of the match. He finished the contest with four shots on target. Backlund has lit the lamp in each of his past three outings, while adding one assist during that stretch. He will look to continue that streak in Game 7 on Sunday night. 

Backlund finally got the Flames on the board at 6:49 of the third period. That tied the game at 1-1 and started the Flames' rally. He has two goals and three points in five games this year.
