"I know in my exit meeting, that was one thing that Chuck and I talked about, I actually brought up Torts," Atkinson said. "I said, 'I vouch for Torts.' That's how much I think that Torts is going to help our team." He has plenty of experience with Tortorella from their days together in Columbus. Atkinson appreciated Tortorella's direct approach and that he held players accountable. Atkinson had some strong seasons under Tortorella and he should be comfortable working for him again in 2022-23.

Atkinson was one of the few bright spots in what has been a bleak season for the Flyers. He's scored 23 goals and 50 points in 73 contests in his first season with Philadelphia.

Atkinson is still unavailable for the Flyers along with a long list of other injured players. He hasn't played since Apr. 12 due to a lower-body injury. 

The Flyers hoped to have Atkinson back for the contest, but that won't be the case. He will sit for a third straight game due to a lower-body injury. Atkinson is slated to meet with doctors today to determine if he will go on Philadelphia's upcoming road trip.
