Varlamov will get the first half of New York's back-to-back situation in the team's penultimate contest of the 2021-22 season. He has lost his past four outings to drop his record to 9-17-2 on the year. Varlamov has a 2.98 GAA and .910 SV% in 30 appearances. 

The Islanders tied the game after falling behind by a 2-0 score early in the first period, but the Hurricanes scored three unanswered goals in the third to claim the victory. Carolina got two empty-netters after Max Domi broke a 2-2 tie at the 5:40 mark of the final frame. Varlamov has lost his past four outings to drop to 9-17-2 on the year. 

Varlamov will get the second half of New York's back-to-back set after Ilya Sorokin played in Saturday's loss to Buffalo. He has lost his past three outings, while giving up six goals against in each of his past two starts. Varlamov has a 9-16-2 record this year with a 2.98 GAA and .910 SV% in 29 appearances.
